This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Just read about a stable fire in Georgia - Kennesaw? Apparently 14 horses died. Praying your horses are okay.
It's awful to hear about, it's an ever-present danger with barns. It could have been electrical, could have been spontaneous combustion with the hay, a cigarette in the shavings, you just don't know til after the fire marshal completes his investigation.
The barn where I rode as a kid burned down in the 60s. It turned out to have been electrical. 40 horses died.
I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of the horses, although releived that it wasn’t your barn. My biggest fear I think and the reason every horse in my barn has an outside exit and the only time they are closed is if I have a mare foaling or a show date the next day.
On the weekends they go into the two big 25 acre pastures, mares in one and geldings in the other.
We also keep the hay and the shavings in two separate buildings.
Your trainer sounds like a real smart lady. The horses are lucky to be at her barn.
Yesterday, we did get the stalls cleaned and sure glad we did. That was a big chore and I hate to see them get so bad. We ended up just dumping in the back yard, in a area that used to be my big garden.
Hair, I thought about you when I was opening up a ditch to drain the backyard. There was a lot of leaves and other debris in the other end, where the drain pipe goes out. Once I cleaned that out, the "lake" went down fast.
I love a good drainage! :~) Very satisfying watching water moving :~)
Sorry about the more snow...
Morning! Have a great day!
I think we’re hauling a load of topsoil for the yard!
Talk about a mess...did yall see this? I wish they had taken a picture after he got cleaned u.http://news.aol.com/story/_a/young-horse-pulled-from-septic-tank/20080319085909990001
Standing, teaching, I started having a lot of back problems. I had to make myself do it but I bought a pair of good walking ones and it stoped. I’ve never spent that much money on a pair of shoes for me before but it was worth it.
I’m sorry to hear you got more snow - the pictures of your snow and lakes in the yard were bad enough. Want to go to the south pacific with me until winter is over?
Have fun :)
If I could just point my wind and sand in your direction, you’d have more topsoil than you knew what to do with. I must have swept a square yard of it out of the house yesterday.
Poor dirty baby. Probably terrified too.
I have to wear good shoes at the library - concrete floors with 1/8 inch carpet on top. I try to get Dr Shoals most of the time.
Well I’m back from the barn and the range. I’ll post pictures as soon as I finish dinner.
Two of my wild ducks were back and looking for a meal. That’s not good. They should be on their way back to you by now.
What are you having for dinner? Tapping fingers here for pictures :)
Who said ducks were Daffy? They probably know it’s cold and snowy up there.
