This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
What they call a "mental obstacle" . . . "Hey, Mom! It's MOVING!"
$3.859 for diesel here. My trips to town are very limited now. Can you imagine what they will be like, come Memorial Day!
Holy Crap! Don't tell me that! It's just went up to $3.66 here and I thought that was incredible. If it keeps going like that then $4 or $4.50 will be right around the corner.
Yes, we will not complain, now, ‘cause they’re still saying we may have another drought this summer.
I’m so proud for lights in the barn, and if Hal makes me real mad he can put a fan in the tackroom and stay.
All I hear from him lately is how awful diesel feul is and went up again yesterday.
He took Soldier and Daisy to get shod yesterday and was actually riding by himself when I got home.
J. C. hitched a ride (it was his idea to go) to get his horse shod and didn’t even offer to pitch in on the gas.
That looks impressive. The dog is pretty, too.
You said the horse one is closer to the ground, right?
I’d be on the ground if it tottered that much with a horse.
LOL!! You go girl! ;o)
J. C. hitched a ride (it was his idea to go) to get his horse shod and didnt even offer to pitch in on the gas.
Well! He should have! Maybe not half, since Hal was hauling 2 already, but he should have at least made an offer of SOMETHING. And speaking of that, you left me way too much money for fuel last weekend! We only went like 40 miles round trip from your place and at 15mpg and $3.66 a gallon split 2 ways that's only like $5, not $20! You're gettin' some of that back, or a freebie the next time or something.
I’ll just take a freebie.
It’s worth it not to have to hitch up and drive.
I’m getting “candy” feeling about riding Sun., too. Some stations are saying in the low 40’s for Sun. also.
Oh...Come....On!!
Surely it won’t be that bad if it’s sunny. You can always put on more clothes.
Yeah - maybe wear pants this time around ;~)
The dogs can do the horsey obstacles, but not the other way around. We were at a schooling show one time, and during the lunch break I took my Choc out and ran her over the hunter course (she can jump the moon - a 2'3" hunter course is no problem for her at all, she jumps just under two feet in actual competition.) She even did the trotting circle before and after the course. She was so excited at the applause that she did the famous Lab 'butt tucking' display - where they tuck their entire hind end under their body and run madly in circles, swinging their ears around . . . . it is really odd looking.
LOL!! Might help! ;o)
So cute! She’s cutting her eyes in your direction like “Am I doing this right Mom?!”
Yeah, one of the reasons she can’t make time in Masters (other than being a Lab running against Border Collies) is that she is always watching me to make sure she’s doing it right. I nannied her too much when we were learning!
You get extra points for that shot. LOL
I bet that pair gets dyed or only worn at home!!!!
That looks like fun. I don’t see how you and Bladerider, etc. have the time and patience to do horses and show dogs, too.
Save them for a Lady Govida costume some time ;~)
We’re supposed to get a lot of rain too. 3 inches. We’re under flash flood watch, and it hasn’t even started yet.
Hope you get rain you need w/o flooding. One of our ponds is about to run over, but got low last fall even w/spring in it. The other 2 all but dried up. R y’all dry, too?
Good weekend and riding to everyone.
My new ‘puter is here. It is Awesome. :-D Digital graphics, and digital sound. Woah. Blows my hair back.
My kids are older, and I don't have a high-hours, high-stress job any more. Those two things make more difference than anything.
Of course, my house is a mess! Who's got time to clean and tidy when there are so many more interesting things to do?
