FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

We burn a lot too around here, and I wouldn’t worry about it in the arena, but you might get some fly ash from it or some smoldering in those leaves around the one pile, so I’d worry if it was really dry out.

Around here though, you can’t set the forest on fire even with a blow torch, even in summer.

Well, I am sending him a picture that shows the crooked legs real well, and I did tell the breeder about his not breathing when he was born so she thinks he must have some kind of health problem. And I’m not even a gypsy, although I am portuguese and we think a lot alike. :)

LOL - I noticed them the minute he stood up. Bob was bragging about his long legs and I was thinking *&^% - another one with crooked legs. I am so glad you told me about that last year because even though it took Bob calling the vet for confirmation, he listened. His natural inclination is turn them loose so they can run. This year he didn’t even question it - they are both still locked up in the stall.

Frog, Shirley, and I had a great ride today. Got to see some beautiful scenery I’d never been to before. I’m sure FrogIAB will post pics tomorrow. I’m not sure how to do it yet.
We also rode our 22 month old black TWH filly yesterday and today for the 1st time. She did really good. She is so spoiled I was worried she would just balk.

A black TWH filly? It’s really necessary that you learn how to post pictures :)

Seriously, Hair has instructions posted here somewhere but I’m pinging her. I’d tell you but I’m now sure how to explain it right.

The plural is just mice. :-) You should be able to pick up a new one at Walmart. How is your new job going?

LOL! There's such a lot of gamesmanship in the horse world! There's a passage in a Kipling story - "My Son's Wife", I think - where an observer of the country scene says, "They lied -- except about horses -- grudgingly and without skill."

I've been known to tell a whopper myself where the buying or selling of equines was at issue . . . .

When you want to update the who’s who, I have some nice new pics. I’ll even get a shot of my daughter on the “Big Dumb Blond” Tuesday. She’s home for spring break, she’s riding for the college equestrian team and is going to get in a little coaching while she’s home.

Here's the latest refugee cat to show up. If I can catch this one, I'm giving it to Rosie... it matches hers, almost. ;~)

Pretty cats. I’ve always liked the color of Siamese’s body’s.

Has FR changed something. For no reason that I can find, when I click like The General Forum, it’s giving me the page that shows part of the articles rather then just the latest comments??? If I click “Comments” under the Forum listing, I get ALL of them rather then each Forum...have any clue what’s changed?

Becky

He certainly appears to be well fed! He’s bound to belong to somebody.

The well fed is partly my doing, he’s been around a few weeks ;~) He’s been under the house and around. But last night was the first night I took his picture.

The first time I saw him was daytime, and I thought he was one of Rosie’s escaped. I even went over to her house to count cats and make sure.
