This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Yeah - very sad day for her there. I feel bad for her having to make that decision.
Thanks. Yes - what a horrible thing for her to have to go through. She truly made the right decision. I had to walk through this with a friend and neighbor. Her mare twisted her gut and Mandy had the surgery which was several thousand dollars. The mare is not recover though, and still had to be put down. I don’t think enough vets tell their clients just have very risky and iffy the surgery is.
Friday just foaled - well 15 minutes ago. Beautiful black and white near leopard. Pictures later. Bye
Oh wow! Congratulations - waiting for the pictures!
So here is the kid. He's a real looker, no barn name yet, still not nursing but he is up and moving around well. Friday still hasn't dropped the placenta yet either but she's got awhile before I worry. This was an incredibly fast delivery.
He looks great:) Looks so cool with his solid colored head and neck.

Wow.... look at all those spots!
What happens if you can’t find the people?
The one out back.
At the side of the house.
The stuff from the front yard that we pull into the arena.

Those are some big burn piles!
I’d be nervous to burn the one under the trees...
Did you get them all? The ones that were on the roof too? Any damage up there?
Oh how wonderful! Congrats on the new foal.
Sweet new rig. My XPS is three years old now. They sure make them “souped” up more now. What kind of NVIDA card? I imagine its a hot one. Gaming pc deluxe. :) My next one is going to be an Alien, I think.
We are going to a tack sale today. Amy has a lot of Alison’s show clothes that are too small and she also wants to sell her show saddle. She has her eye on another one. I am going to sell my trail saddle, that they got me for Christmas last year. It was suppose to be for Bodie and is too big for Jody.
Well, that’s exciting :~) Fun place to shop any how.
We may have a trip to Home Depot on our agenda today... we’ll see.
Good morning. Waiting on the vet, we still have a retained placenta here but the kid is doing fine. Finally got a call from the breeder this morning, she and her partner, the guy who owns the foal aren’t speaking but she did leave messages for him she says. Apparently he has decided to get out of the horse business and is all wrapped up with a new girlfriend. And can’t reach any of our usual vets so we have a girl coming out from our vet clinic who on the phone seemed more concerned about her fee and whether or not she’d be kicked. My mood this morning is such that she may be kicked by me :)
Well jeepers. I hope Friday is fine. Is the gal coming going to give a shot or something to encourage her to pass it? How does that work?
And I hope the foal ownership issues get sorted out. If they aren’t interested, will they give you whatever paperwork is needed register the foal to at least?
We’re heading out for breakfast and errands. I hope it’s all sorted out before we get back and all’s well.
Have you tried the Pill? They have some new low dosage ones specifically for cramps. My OB/GYN put me on them (he told me the alternative was a hysterectomy - I have fibroids and endometriosis). It’s amazing, cramps just stopped.
FWIW, I retained my placenta and it turned out o.k. Same situation, btw, a very rapid delivery. Soon as they knocked me out to do a D&C it passed on its own.
Hope the vet gets there and that she doesn't get kicked (except by you, if she's as snippy in person as it sounds like she was on the phone) . . . and that all turns out well.
