This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Anyhow ladies... thanks... No easy solution to it but I appreciate the ideas. Most nights he’s NOT like this. It’s just episodes. But when he’s in this kind of panic there’s little we can do to settle him except hold him. It’s like he’s not even really listening. Nothing going on behind the eyes, They’re just fixed and dialated, if you know what I mean.
Well the downers sound like the only real solution then. Hopefully they'll work and get him through whatever it is that's making him act this way this time. Just take it one episode at a time. Maybe he's hearing whatever it is that Bay's snorting at in the back 40. Maybe you've got a Sasquach out there or something. ;o)
I wish it was that rational... Unfortunately, I think the voices are in his head.
It’s like he has some kind of psychosis going on that’s making him nuts. An itch he can’t reach, a pain, a ringing in his ears, something that’s making him nuts. And how’s he supposed to tell us what it is?
I dunno. He’s irritating, but I feel sorry for him. He’s got such a sweet face.
When he’s up, he’s really up and bouncy. I don’t get it.
Trying to psych myself up to go clean stalls... they need stripped.
My cat Bear does that to me fairly often, but that's only because the catfood bowl is empty or he's out of water and if I get up and refill it he's happy and will leave me alone, or will at least settle down and to go sleep on my chest rather than walking all over me. {sigh} The things we put up with for our animals!
Heh, wake up ol’ Homer and make him go out in the yard while you’re out there. Anything to keep him from sleeping all day and whining all night.
Yeah - he’s coming with me. :~D
Heck, if Rosie’s dog Sisco is over there, bring him over too and let him wear Homer out a little bit. They usually like to play together don’t they?
They used to play a lot... now Barkley plays with Cisco and Homer stays out of it.
It’s weird... all my dogs can play with Cisco, but they don’t play with each other. Too much posturing - too serious, and Gidget breaks it up. But she doesn’t care who plays with Cisco. Cisco is Switzerland. :~)
Strange! I wonder what’d happen if you put Homer in Cisco’s yard. That way they’d be in there by themselves with nobody to horn in and Homer could get some one-on-one time with Cisco and maybe he’d play some then. Just a thought.
I think I will go get Cisco this afternoon and see if I can encourage some exercise with somebody! It’s a good idea anyway on a lovely day.
ping to the above :~)
I think maybe he senses something - earthquake coming, volcano action, severe weather. Might start noting on the calendar when he has the attacks and what happens in the next week. Poor guy.
LOL!
I'm not sure how to take that... ;-)
Cisco would *love* to play.
I never did hear the end of your story about the coffee stand folks. I went off on my little guilt trip before I heard their response.
There wasn’t much response. They’re kindof blank stare kind of gals, unless they’re fighting with their boyfriends, I guess.
Cisco’s over here. There’s exercise happening while I clean stalls... but I think me and Cisco are doing most of it!
Well, watch our volcanos then. At this point if something doesn’t blow soon I’m just going to think he’s got a screw loose ;~)
I note that he’s been returned safe and sound. The exercise doesn’t appear to have affected him much...
Izzit finally the weekend?
Well mine are tired :~)
Yes, it’s the weekend! :~)
Good morning.
It’s very cold here:(
I had a call last night from a man looking for a trail horse. He is suppose to call this morning around noon to come look at Harley, and I don’t even feel like messing with it. The last few days I’ve had a very upset stomach, and this morning I just don’t feel well. Charlie is going to come up around 10:00 to work him a bit. I guess if he is still gimping...the cut leg, or the thrush still...I’ll tell the guy when he calls today is not a good day. Kristy doctored the cut last night and said it looked fine, not serious. If it wasn’t so cold, I’d probably feel more energetic. I hate winter.
