FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Although it looks gross, the mold is a good thing. It tells you that the leather still has a lot of moisture in it and has been well taken care of. Give it a good cleaning and it should be fine.

988 miles or 14 hours. Probably take me longer, as there is not a rest stop I can pass. Not sure if I will bring the trailer or not. It makes for better site seeing without it. Unless, I find a good horse to bring home. I already have been checking out the local “cowboys” on Equestrian
Singles..lol

I am still planning on coming but depends on how much school work I have due that week. I have an exam on Monday the 22nd but if I come back home on Saturday, I’ll have some study time.

I could leave here sometime on Thursday though since clinicals are Tues/Wed this semester.

Great. You can come any day, and stay as long as you can.

Mine too. Jake seems to hardly ever get bothered but they drive Henkell crazy. This year has been much better though as I am feeding Simplifly and garlic. Even Henkell has been comfortable most of the summer and we had a lot of flies this year too.

The Simplifly really cuts down on the quantity though since I am not producing any replacements in my horses’ manure.

Wait a minute... are you looking for a horse to take home with you, or a cowboy? ;~)

Oh, geez, you have as long a trip as Frog and Blade.

What type of horse are you looking for? I’ll keep my eyes and ears open:)

Yeah, I’m about as far from the airport as you are from yours:)

If I had been you tho, I’d have made my arrival times in the middle of the night and early early morning like I did you:).

I had that option! I could switch! :~D

I remember that you didn’t have a lot of choices. :~)

At least this time we will recognize each other. I was so afraid of not being sure what you’d look like in person! I drove by so many blonde women standing there with bags thinking... “is that her?”

REally, not recognizing you never entered my mind. I think I was so worried about the flying and changing planes, there was just no room in my head to think about anything else:)

I know... And of course as soon as I saw you, I knew you... I just wasn’t sure, but I knew all the others who just gave me blank stares when I drove by were probably not the right gal!

Are you going to have to change planes somewhere? What airline are you on?

Nope! Never been to OK :~)

I haven’t been to a lot of places, really... Trips up and down the west coast... our trip to Florida... and I drove across the country with my brother when he got out of boot camp, but we went across Kansas and Colorado... North of you.

That sounds just like the flights I was on when I came home last time. Once again, you’re having to get to the airport at the crack of dawn:)

I think my arrival flight is the same exact flight as your departure was!

Well, the time change affects the times too... and you know, it’s still pretty impressive that if we get up early in the morning, we can be halfway across the country by dinner time. :~)

Well, there really isn’t much to see in OK. It will probably be interesting for you tho, because it is very different looking then Wa.

Here lately when I’ve been driving home, I’ve been thinking of all the things I’ll point out, the local history, the places we’ll pass that are owned by families. Some of it might be interesting to a newbie:)

Today when I was out riding, I was trying to look at the trails with eyes that hadn’t seen any of it before. Mostly just rocks and trees that are not nearly as impressive as your’s. But I do think you’ll find it interesting.
