This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I’m not clear on the details. I just think Tiff said she was due April. Hopefully not till tomorrow night when Tiff gets back. :~\
You’re welcome. I had actual hardwood floors in one of my houses and while I did love them, they were much more difficult to keep looking good. My family isn’t the neat and orderly type (and they keep bringing more animals home)
You might want to ask her when she was bred. 242 days from last breeding, give or take a day or two usually.
Oh, that’s going to be so cute. I’m waiting for pictures. I took my dobie to work with me for awhile when she was little to get her socialized.
Well, hopefully Tiff is right. Take a peek at her bag when you go over to feed next.
Jeepers... you ladies are making me nervous now.. :~)
I didn’t look that closely at her myself, didn’t even occur to me. I’ll check her in the morning though.
Sorry - didn’t mean to make you nervous. It might just be the way she’s standing but in the picture she looks sunk in around her tail. That’s what made me wonder.
Well, I just don’t want it happening on my watch. :~\
IMHO, she’s not well set up to have a baby, let alone this early, and I could get really worked up about it not being done the right way... but Tiff’s Tiff, and she flies by the seat of her pants... if her luck holds like it usually does, everything will be just fine despite my worrying.
Great looking picture there! Very well composed. And of course the pup is no slouch either.
Most babies are born with no problems, mares like to be on their own generally. And babies are born out in the open all the time. Not a lot of people are as anal about it as we are :) And being out in the open will insure Kat doesn’t get cast up against a stall wall or something. If Tiff just makes sure she has some iodine around, a couple of old towels and the vet’s telephone number everything should be okay.
It’s just really muddy.
I don’t want to think about it happening now. :~)
She is such a ham, when we get the camera out she just KNOWS she is on show. Get a load of the facial expression here -- deprecating modesty incarnate:
"Oh, it was nothing really. I had loads of help."
Well, most likely we are wrong so don’t worry about it. Tiff should know when the mare is due and it’s a long way to April.
Now not only do you get everybody's animals, you get everybody's PREGNANT animals . . . .
I would think that the Great Benevolent Animal Caretaker Gods would make sure that Kat doesn't deliver on your watch . . . .
. . . . of course, nothing's likely to go wrong in any event. We had a mare at our barn that our trainer had bought at an auction that we didn't even know was pregnant, and heaven knows who the daddy was. When her croup dropped and she started waxing, everybody looked around and said, "So that WASN'T a grass belly!" Tried to watch her round the clock, but she waited until 3 or 4 in the morning. The last shift left at 2 and the caretaker showed up at 5:30 or 6 and there was a little chestnut filly in the stall with Mama.
:) She’s beautiful - and look at all those ribbons. They need to be up on a wall somewhere.
They are! They fill two kitchen windows, and we have lots more since that shot!
Outstanding. One day you need to take a picture of your ribbon wall :)
Are they ribbons for field trials? I still don’t know much about dog shows, trials, etc. Well, make that I don’t know anything at all about it.
They’re just trying to freak me out... :~)

AH! MONSTER! :~O
