This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
That looks really nice:)
I’ll be sure to tell Charlie about the brads when we get around to doing it here.
Becky
Thanks.
I think you’ll be really happy with it. The laminate that I got has a 20 year warranty and so far I’ve found that it doesn’t get scratched by moving furniture or stained by dirty boots coming in or water spilled. My house is best suited to concrete I think with all the animals and mud and snow :) but the laminate is standing up to it all.
I think that sounds great... Whatever you’d like :~)
When would you like to do that? Would you just like a check or cash... or a gift card to Wherever you’d want to buy it?
I like that... With all our pets we’re looking forward to having laminates or vinyl flooring throughout the whole house! And then rugs.
Well, off to do stalls! They’re bad... horses have just been standing inside, or coming in wet, and they’ll need stripped.
Oh - hope you do go riding... - take the camera ;~)
I’m still kind of shopping and looking...but this is close to what I’m looking for, I just need to measure what size I will need.

Well, I want too, but am feeling really lazy...it’s very windy...I’m trying to get myself out there and at least get him saddled and let him stand. The biggest drawback is he is filthy, caked with dirt, it will take forever to get him fit for a saddle:( I don’t have a lot of enthusiasm for it anyway, so that is really making it hard to get out and do.

I understand that... I hate a muddy horse.
We just now got done with cleaning stalls, which was a chore because it had been several days and they were standing in there making a mess for much of it. I picked and hosed all their feet, I was concerned because of how bad the stalls are, and they had no bungus issues at all. So I do think it’s true what the farriers say, that it’s not so much about mud or even dirty stalls... healthy feet don’t get thrush. Something about those NB shoes made Bay susceptible. Poor circulation or something? I don’t want to say they never are good shoes, but for whatever reason they didn’t work for Bay.
Bay’s feet are getting long and run forward though, so he needs to have the farrier back. It’s only been 6 weeks, but I don’t think he did a real aggressive trim the first time.
You should take some pictures of the new place for us when you’re out there!
That stuff wears like iron. A friend installed it in his house and gave me some scraps -- I'm using one for a cutting board, that's how tough it is.
We've got hardwood in this house, red oak w/ urethane finish. It's got maintenance issues! I might well go with the laminate when we sell this house and build a smaller one . . .

It's really pretty! I like, I like :~)
Oh good:)
I have my horse saddled, and Kristy just called and will be here in a bit. Still not sure I’ll actually ride...altho he’s standing out there very nicely.

You know how it goes. It’s hard to get started, but you’re always glad you did once you go. :~)
That’s what I keep telling myself:)

So far I like the laminate much better than the vinyl. The vinyl in my kitchen and bathrooms was so hard to clean and keep clean - this is great.
That’s great. I’m glad that Levi fell back into work easily. And very cool that the four wheeler didn’t bother him. Next, train him to chase dogs instead of run from them :)
No - this isn’t Pergo. A friend put that in and found it didn’t hold up well (or as well as he thought it should). He pulled it out two years later and replaced it and recommended that I not use it.
This is Dream Home Laminate, 7mm Charisma and has a 20 year warranty. So far I’ve found it as good as advertised. I found it at Lumber Liquidators - luckily they have a Reno Store so I could go up and check it out.
