FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

OK, well I just wasn’t sure if it would be later Wed. or not. We will for sure be around here in the evening. and you can call as you get closer. Once you get on the turnpike from Joplin, I can pretty much know when you will be getting to Tulsa. It’s about 2-2 1/2 hours from Joplin.

Ok, I’m really focused this morning.

I had planned on mowing today...since it rained it’s too wet right now, but I thought I’d go ahead and run to town to get some gas, so I could mow later if it dries some. I started the truck, turned it around so that I would drive past the shop to stop and get a gas can...thinking get a gas can, get a gas can....got all the way to town, got out, and no gas can:(....

I’ll just go later, there are plenty of other things I can be doing.

Oh my..that is a huge difference. Once again, I’m surprised at the difference in different parts of the country, like horse feed.

Do you all have Indian Smoke Shops there? Here at the smoke shops you don’t have to pay all the taxes, that’s why they are cheaper there. I think by the carton they are even cheaper then Mack quoted.

We do have indian smoke shops that don’t charge some of the state taxes... but I hardly ever get down that way to take advantage of it.

Most of the difference is state taxes.

I know how it is... You’re a scenario runner like me.

Hey - if there’s a thunderstorm, we’ll fly a kite. We’re on vacation! Including you, once we get there!

Yeah, I know, once you get here, and the whole thing finally gets started, I know from experience, I’ll be OK. It’s just the waiting that kills me:)

MT, are you really thinking of buying a horse that green?

I mean... I think Ellie already has good miles on her, but I thought you were looking for an old steady that could sit in the pasture for several months and still be good to go for a nice easy ride!
