FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

But how do you pronounce it? Now that I know his name, I read his screen name as his real one:).

Becky

LOL! Well Mack’s real name doesn’t fit either. He’ll always be BigMack! My husband’s older brother’s call name is Mac, so nobody knows his real name either. And it’s funny because he’s known as Tadpole at work, because his uncle Frog already worked there. Men are so silly about giving each other unflattering nicknames at work!

No, it’s not Mack:)...I’m always having to change that too when I talk about him here:)...it’s funny how my fingers just get spastic when I’m trying to type out his name now...they first want to type his real one, then my mind says no it’s this, and my fingers just go aaahhhhhhh.....everywhere:)

It’s a cool screen name though, with it’s reference to the Wizard of Oz, and it’s really fitting too, in the online world.

He won’t mind being called Mack:)

He has always hung unflattering nicknames on people. Funny story.

There was a radio personality here years ago whose name was Modale Phipps. I can’t remember why it started but Mack started calling me Modale, and it slowly got shortened to Moe. The kids even called/still call me that, my grand babies are calling me that...

But anyway, when we were running the round up club here, several people called me that. I didn’t really appreciate it all that much at the time. I felt it was a family thing...is what I didn’t realize is the people calling me that didn’t realize that wasn’t my name:). Some boys who were in their 20’s or so called me that, and I felt it was a bit disrespectful, so one day I told them, you know I’d really like for you to call me by my name...they looked at me a bit puzzled and asked “well what is your name”...I said Becky...and they said, we thought it was Moe, you don’t look like a Becky, you look like Moe.

LOL...I was like Oh gawd, I LOOK like a MOE...yuk...all I can think of is Moe from the 2 stooges.

After all these years now tho, I don’t care what people call me:)

Beck

Hehe. I had to be really careful about how I talked about coming down to Oklahoma when I thought that I would be able to go. The only people who know the whole truth are a couple of family members who are Freepers. The rest just knew that I was going to go down to meet up with some fellow horse friends.

Well when you posted a picture of him fishing I thought “Hmmm... he looks like a Mack.” So I agree with Frog, Mack is just gonna have to stay!

LOL! Moe’s a cute nickname! Now my cousin’s wife had one that was a little bit different. I have no idea how it started, but I think it must have had something to do with her anatomy. Her nickname was “Teat”, as in Cow’s teat, and that’s what everybody (in our family anyways) called her and that’s what I grew up knowing her by. But several years ago my aunt tells me not to call her that anymore, to call her Elizabeth. And I can understand her wanting to get rid of that nickname, but a lifetime of habit dies hard I still slip up and revert back to Teat sometimes. The same goes for my other cousin Buster. He’s a businessman now and goes by his real name, but he’ll always be Buster to me.

Tiring... I haz senzory overloadz.

The bad news is Barkley broke into the dog food bin today while he was left alone. Unknown how much they ate, but none are hungry. Barkley is bloated... not in the medical sense necessarily I don’t think, but his stomach is huge. I hope he can get through this without problems.

The good news is they didn’t apparently fight over it.

Followup...

I just read up on inducing vomiting, and we did that, with Hydrogen Pyroxide. He puked nothing, so it’s already through the stomach. I know more about that than I did before. Gave him HP in the mouth with a syringe and he puked nearly instantly.

So we decided he has to push it through, so we gave him some Mylanta. He didn’t like that a lot.

lol!

I just caught up on Barkley. I didn't know that you could induce vomiting with H2O2. Hmm. I bet he'll think twice next time.

I've been up since 5. One of the cats was jumping all over me begging to be let out. Twit.
