This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
They both ate tuna, a couple feet from me, while I sat there. The little calico girl came right up and had already filled up and went under the house when I had ecurbh bring the camera, so this is just the little gray one I call the brother. He was a little more timid this first time so he waited while she ate awhile till he decide it was OK. Sorry about the picture quality, I didn't want to use the flash, so it was dark and I lightened it best I could.
Getting cloudy here and looks like rain. We have some old furniture in the back yard, that needs to go to the garage. Too heavy for me to handle. Kids want to have a garage sale week after next. She still has so much of Alison's baby stuff. No more babies in the future, so time to get rid of all the stuff.
Aw cute kitten. Poor little things, you are doing right by trying to catch and fix them. The half grown kitten that we had as a “guest” on the Labor Day camping trip, has found a new home. A man who has a permanent spot there said that some people took it. She was so sweet, I was glad to hear that.
What where the dates again? I really need to get a plan going here.
We may be the last smokers on the planet :~)
Yall don’t forget to post some pics for us homebound folk, while you are there:’)
How long have we been friends? :~) You know I’ll be there taking pictures.
That is for large areas of farmland, but the general principles still apply. A mole drain wouldn't be much use because there's no room to pull it, but if you put 3" perforated corrugated pipe in a silt sleeve at the bottom of the drain ditch (holes DOWN) and cover it with gravel, it should drain that right out. We did this in our back yard and it really, really helped. A formerly boggy spot behind the deck is now clean and dry (the water is now draining to the opposite side of the lawn and THAT is now soggy, but that's a different problem!)
I’ve thought a lot about that, a shallow french drain along the outside wall, and yes, it could drain right into the drainage ditch.
When we build our own place, a lot of investment will be in putting in good drainage.
Hair is arriving on 16th, Frog and Blade on the evening of the 18th. Everyone is staying till the 22nd.

I guess I’ll just make the beds first come first serve:)
There are 3 in the RV and 3 in the house...if I need more then that, it gets down to the couch, and then cots, and then the floor:)

I know. If you can though, put some up there, instead of waiting til you get back.
I just wonder if the convenience of having the lean-to area dry would justify the expense. Drain pipe, sleeve, and gravel are cheap . . . it's the labor of digging the ditch that's going to be the major investment.
The next time we build, I'm getting a civil engineer in to deal with drainage issues BEFORE we build!!!! (We bought this house already built (never again!) We are in a hole here, all the surrounding land drains down into a creek at the back and side of our property. It does mean that we usually are well-watered . . . like now, in a drought. This is the first year that I have ever lost a plant to drought - two rhododendrons and an oakleaf hydrangea didn't make it through the watering restrictions. But when it's wet, we are REALLY wet!)
Good morning :)
Good morning, hope all is well with you.
Oh we’ve spent a lot of money here because I wanted the results. I think to really drain it’s going to need a ‘T’ that comes up to the middle doorway where Cyn pees.
Oh I’m sure we’ll put up plenty of pictures every night of the day’s events. We won’t leave you hanging. :~)
Whoo Hoo...we’re back!!!:)
It’s pouring down rain, so all mowing, and bobcating has come to a halt:(...I’m bored there is nothing to do, and I can’t even get a good hot debate going over on the other side:)
Becky
Oh I’m sure you could stir them up if you put your mind to it!
I’m about ready to get to work here. I want to put the hardware back up so I can close horses out of the barn on nice days. They just don’t need to be in there all day, we don’t even have flies any more.
Digging ditches is one of my pet peeves, but if you want it done right . . . .
