This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I just answered her again. I’m not sure what I expect for an answer from her but I thought it would be more along the lines of “Well, your old horse and your pony might be at risk you should watch for ______” Or “no, as much rain as you guys get I bet it’s not a problem”.
But not “I can’t tell you if you have a risk or not, but here’s a big list of complicated things you should do.”
LOL...good lord, I wonder what she would say about my rock pile:)
IMO, your horses are fine, and your pasture is fine....
That woman is living in a “Little House on the Prarie” perfect world, that doesn’t exist.
Becky
LOL...I just saw where you told on a thread that you belonged to this forum:)
I’ve always thought it would be interesting to invite a few of them over here...might shake us up a bit:), we’ve gotten awful comfortable here:). I doubt anyone over there will check us out from your post, but it would be interesting.
I’d like to see some of those I’ve been discussing with on the Spiritual Circle on our Religion Forum:)...now that would be fun to watch:)
Becky
Yeah - I didn’t tell them our names or make us too easy to find, but a few of them might well fit in here :~)
I still wouldn’t touch that spiritual forum with a ten foot pole, but I do check on you occasionally. I also saw Mack there :~)
Good lord that woman just told me it’s probably against the law to kick $h!t.
Well, see I’m thinking it’s the ones that wouldn’t fit in that would be fun to see show up:)
Becky
Heh... You’re a troublemaker though ;~)
LOL...I’ve enjoyed the Spiritual Forum this last weeks, almost feels like the NES again:)....almost:)
I learn more from debates like those then just studying on my own. Gives me some direction to my study.
Becky
LOL....I know:)
Becky
What??? Going to check.
Becky
NES never had a majority of pagans though did it?
I just posted a thread on pasture management in the horse forum asking what people do. I just don’t know anyone who does what they are saying I should do.
Hey everyone, I have some sad news. A pair of coyotes got my trainer’s two dogs last night. Ellie died at the vet’s office, we never found Zoey. Everyone’s heartbroken, I’m tearing up just writing about it. It happened in the mare’s pasture, right at dusk. Trainer was going out to get Levi, and when she saw what was happening, she ran at them and one dropped Ellie. The other made off with Zoe.
Wow... how sad. What kind of dogs?
They were small dogs. Mini wire haired dachaunds. They were very sweet, good dogs.
Gosh... what an awful scene to witness. So sorry for her. I thought they might be small dogs because you said ‘dropped’. Not that I think it matters though, our coyotes are about a a third Gidget’s size, but I still doubt she’d be a match for them.
Ellie had cat lives, and they ran out. Before this, she tangled with another coyote, and a hawk. Not because of neglect or anything, we just have a lot of wildlife. They were such good sweet little dogs. I don’t know what I should do for my trainer... I want to do something. Even if it’s just waiting outside with her with another shotgun. ;-)
Not much you can do. Little stones with their names on it or a nice flowering shrub for the garden or something would be a nice memorial.
I have ferns over my dogs... ~Snif~ from where the Red Fern grows.
