FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Thanks.

Rocky leaves tomorrow sometime I believe. That was the last word from the shipper but I haven’t been able to get in touch with them today to confirm that.

Sam (our big red yearling) left today. He went home with some folks that live north of Reno. The people we got Tyke from. I expect big things from him :)

Good places for both of them then? I hope and wish them well!

In response to the fact that horse.com still has no sign it's ever going to be fixed, we decided to open one, as some of you know. It went live today...

Hello everyone. Long time no see!

Life here has been a whirlwind of busy. I honestly haven't stopped since I got back from California in August. I will get around to posting pictures when I can. I've been very busy at work. They have me doing double duty doing my (real) job as a chemist and my other job as project lead for an internal customer thing that they are trying to set up for one of their products. It's extremely high profile, and between the two I've been working six days a week since I came back. They're finally giving me the outside support that I need (after a year) and it should be done by the beginning of December. And oh yeah, I'm also taking a graduate class in Business Management. I knew it was nuts, but I needed something to boost my self esteem. We'll see if it works.

I'm heading out to Chicago to see The Fellow in about a week and a half. He's finishing his last year getting his MBA at the U of C, and that has me in limbo too, because I don't know where we're going to end up. I'll send more in a Freepmail.

...RESCUE AT RAINBOW BRIDGE...

That's just the BEST! But now I gotta go wipe my eyes and blow my nose. It was worth it though! Thanks for posting it. I've passed it on to all my other animal-loving e-mail buddies.

It seems so very appropriate doesn’t it? Hope you have a great day.

Here’s a link to a really good article I thought was worth sharing. It’s from the Equestrian Network Magazine, a free e-publication, and is titled “From Wild to Mild: The Mustangs at Extreme Mustang Makeover” and is about the Mustang Heritage Foundation and the work they’re doing in training wild mustangs to be incredible equine companions and finding them good homes...

Good morning! Busy around here....

Well, not here on the thread exactly, but I’m busy! :~)

I saw you guys got registered over at the forum, thanks, hope it works for you when you want to post. It seems to be working good... a couple problems, but so far, only a couple.

So did you set this new forum up yourself? If you did I’m impressed. It looks nice. I’d have no idea how to go about something like that.

It’s hubby who knows how to do all that. He’s the coolest guy I know. :)

I’m a driver, not a mechanic. :~)

Hello,

Something fun/funny.

Yesterday while I was down here at the office, I got real sleepy and sat down in one of the recliners and dozed off. I had left the side door open. A small noise woke me up and there standing and looking at me was a basad hound (SP). He ambled around sniffing everything, then left. He came back today and is now sleeping here on the floor:)

sigh...no collar, a bit thin, very crooked front legs....probably old.

Oh dear! He couldn’t have gotten very far!

Welcome new Basset hound owner :~D

They often have very crooked front legs. It’s practically normal I think.

Thanks for the correct spelling:)

He's wondered over to the park now.

Oh - isn’t he cute! You gonna make sure he’s OK? Maybe keep him and put up some found dog signs? He probably belongs to someone, he just followed his nose after something and isn’t quite sure how he got there.

I’m keeping an eye on him...I’m thinking he may live around here close and is just out taking a stroll...that’s what I’m hoping:)

He’s been neutered...so he probably has a home nearby.

I just worry about him getting hit there in town... he’s pretty slow and low to the ground...

Any news?
