This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
She was really fun to watch. At first I worried that she would go to far out and wouldn’t know when she needed to turn back. She’s a bit fat and out of shape:)
I also wondered if it was just neurotic retrieving, something she couldn’t stop her self from doing, but after a while it looked like she really did enjoy doing it.
The camping trip sounds fun. I always liked to fish, but I don’t blame you for letting them go. I don’t like cleaning fish either, and big fish don’t taste as good to me.
Was good for her I bet! Was she a little sore after all that, or was she ready for more the next day?
Gidget’s limping today, but she and Barkley won’t stop chasing squirrels. I told both of them I wasn’t going to the vet again this week for dog injuries, that they needed to cool it. :~)
We haven’t heard from you in over a week, are you ok? I remembered you were supposed to see the specialist last Wednesday about your back but haven’t heard from you and I was worrying. Let us hear from you!
Shelley spent a lot of time around border collies as a pup, so she likes to herd when she's in the mood. It's very funny to see a Lab drop into that "stalking" mode with the belly down and giving whatever she's herding the evil eye.
She never seemed sore. She would lay down and take good naps and sleep well at night. But every time we went down to the water she’d wade in and swim around even if we didn’t throw anything. She liked snapping at the waves:)
Of course I forgot my camera. I would have loved having some video of her:(
My daughters 9 month old lab, who had never been around water, was fun to watch too...He just barreled right off the bat, no hesitation at all:)
I wouldn’t even know how to start to clean a fish:)....I just like fish with a hook, worm and bobber.
When Ruby was just 14 weeks old I took her out to a training day where she discovered water for the first time. She LEAPED in, splashed all around, and was so excited that she had to leap out, run laps all around the bank, and then LEAP in again.
We had to train her out of what some trainers call "water freaking", where you send them on a retrieve and they just go and play around indefinitely in the water!
I was gonna say... “where are all the pictures from this trip?” ~shakes head~
I was just sick when I got there and realized I’d forgotten my camera:(
Well, you’ll have to go again and do better. :~)
I've been remiss about taking my camera with me to training days, because with two dogs to handle I just don't have a hand free any more! I have to talk my husband into going, but a lot of times he winds up throwing birds (we always need more bird boys) so he can't take pictures either.
This Saturday is our last training day before the hunt test the following weekend, so I will make sure he goes and takes lots of pics . . . .
They always have a professional photographer at the hunt tests, so we should get some good pics of both the girls in action. This is a professional pic of Shelley from her last AKC hunt test, what a shot.
Great pictures.
Their just moving the paper that the Colonel wrote the recipe on to a new location, is what GMA said:)
Ah - thanks... I wasn’t listening, so I had no idea what that story was about. :~)
I went to the neurosurgeon on the 3rd and he ordered a CAT scan, which I had on Friday. Follow up appointment on the 23rd. Until they see if the "object" is a bone chip or a cyst or whatever, he said to take it easy.
Thursday, the 4th, I went to a retirement party for a co-worker. Maureen and I went and had a good dinner. It was nice to see my former co-workers again.
Saturday, we took Ziggy to a horse sale. Prices are waaaay down on horses and she only was bid up to $1750. We no-saled her, as Amy would like to get at least $3500 for her. Then that evening, I went to my 45th class reunion! What a blast that was. My sister in law (married to my brother) graduated with me and we went to together. I talked her into going and she was so glad I did...we had fun.
Sunday, I went to a horse show and Alison won hi-point again.
So you can see, I have been really busy, but do try and get on and catch up with all the activity.
Its great you got the go ahead to ride again. I know, I sure do miss it. The weather is just perfect now for riding.
Well I’d say you HAVE been busy! Sounds like fun though, except for the doctor.
I can’t believe they’re leaving you hanging about the results of your CAT scan for that long. Doctors make me crazy doing stuff like that. You KNOW they’ve GOT to have the results back before then. The least they could do is to let you know and not make you worry about it until an appointment 3 weeks later!
Horse prices may be down up there, but they’re higher than they are here. Good registered horses are lucky to bring $500 at the sales here. It’s pitiful!
Where are ya Beaker? How was the rest of the trip to CA?
{Looks like I'm turning into the Saddle Club Den Mother!}
I think we need a den mom:) I’m finding it sad to check in here and find there isn’t any discussions going on....we need a good hot topic:)
What do you all think of the lipstick on a pig comment:)???
Me....I think some of the Republicans are making way to big a deal out of it. I think he was referring more in the context of how McCain used it earlier. I don’t think he was referring to Palin at all. The thread here on FR about it, I found a bit over the top.
MT...hoping for the best from your test for you.
