This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

I have my attitude right today. I’m not getting mad anymore. I’ll just call a new towing service out of Tulsa I talked to yesterday. If they can make it in time to tow fine, if they can’t fine. I’m not confronting anyone anymore. That’s just going to have to be the best I can do.
The problem is lots of times the lot doesn’t have a lot of cars in it, but when Bixby has some type of event going on, a home football game, town event, etc. that’s when the biggest trouble happens. So it makes it seem petty to call when the lot is half empty. It’s re-educating people about that.
It is a pretty good cat habitat. :~)
A little small for them though, I hope Orange kitty comes around so I can let them out... but not till I think I can grab them without them becoming tiny little chainsaws. ;~)
So now you need different signs? Does the tow company provide those?
Other then your road, and other critters getting them having one that’s a bit wild would make a good barn cat.

I sure hate to hear that. So does that mean no riding from now on, or just until you get it fixed or what?
He just wants me to stay off the horses for now. Says they are unpredictable... lol I will know more, after I see the specialist.
I sure hope I wont need surgery. Have to see if the shots help. Its been feeling pretty good, I have not had to take any pain pills for the last day or so and have been mowing and doing other yard work.
It’s going pretty well. My scores are creeping up! (I actually beat my hubby! < pomp >)

Sorry to hear about the MRI. Hopefully it will resolve on its own, a lot of us are moving around o.k. with stuff that doesn't look too good on an MRI!

I’m right smack dab in the middle of silicon valley, right off of a part of El Camino Real. Every day when I drive the Fellow to work, I pass by places like Ebay and Yahoo, and SanDisk. It’s crazy. I’ve gotten used to driving around here, as long as I’m very careful about changing lanes, and try to plan ahead while picking them. I have a GPS with me, and that is immensely helpful. In many ways, the roads here make more sense than out in MA, and are definitely more clearly marked. However, often the right lane will suddenly end in a ramp, even on the main roads, and I’ve gotten sucked into god knows where many times already. And the ramps are banked too. That’s interesting. The highways are different out her because in MA, you can use the right lane to both get on and off the highway and to travel in... and I think that CA is the only place that I’ve been where the right lane is used only to get on and off the highway more often than not.

Well, another sleepless night, I'm afraid... at least from 2 am until I decided to go ahead and make coffee and make a morning of it at 5.
Momma cat is not giving up as long as she can hear them. She came around again, and was either by the window or out back or under the house. I'd run her off from out front and she'd just move to the back, or under the house when I brought Barkley out. I don't have anywhere sound-proof to put them! This old house has thin walls and little insulation and even if I were to move them away from the window, they'd hear her through the floor or through the heating vents. ~sigh~
Curiously enough, the tortie as not calling back all night. She seemed content and trying to play or sleep, she seems happy as a clam in her new circumstance, but the orange kitty was inconsolable. Still is, a bit this morning. If I'm not sitting right there at the cage (and I think I just intimidate him more than comfort him) he's meowing... non stop.
I'm would love suggestions, short of throttling both him and his mother, I'm not quite there yet, but it was close around 4 am.
Beyond that, when it's not a frenzy around here, I've made a little progress with handling him, and taken a few pictures. It's not all bad news, but it's sure not going as easy as it could!

This was after the little remodel I did this morning to open up more floor space for them to play.
And meeting Tweek... "Are YOU my mommy?" "No!" Poor things.
Question not to be forgotten.... how early would kittens conceivably go through puberty? Since this is a brother and sister, it's a concern. I think they are When he plays with her he'll grab her by the back of the neck like he's going to mount sister. I don't think either one know what they're doing yet, but I think the inklings of instinct are showing up in him anyway, or is this just a play dominant behavior? They should only be 3 months old... 4 at the most.
Follow up:
Brother is just rather unhappy in the cage, and these nights of constant meowing are getting old.
I'm half tempted to get them fixed now, let them recover a few days, and turn them back out with their mother. At least the male (the tortie is adjusting better). It'd be more wild cats around, but I could get back to normalcy. Maybe momma would be happy if she got one back and she'd stop yowling all night. It's just money I'd hoped would be spent out of their new owner's wallet, I still haven't had Wicket spayed, after all, that was going to be done in the next week or two on the next paycheck.
None of this would be a problem we had the luxury of time. If they were settling in well and all was peaceful and they weren't wearing on all of our patience with all the yowling, I could keep them in the house till we either found homes for them or could work in their spay neuters at our leisure. But the failure of everyone to adapt is making me want to change something.

I get the impression from the boy that he is still undecided. Can you bear it for another day? Can you play a radio or a CD on an endless loop near the crate so he can't hear Mom?
If he doesn't settle down in another 24 hours, I would go ahead and neuter him and turn him back out to Mom. But WATCH him because he will smell funny and she may reject him.
The mounting behavior is normal for kittens, it doesn't mean anything sexual until he is more mature (I assume his little testicles haven't descended yet.)
They are right next to the TV, as you can see in the Tweek picture, and I had the volume pretty loud, and they could still hear each other.
I’d like to think he’s only agitated when he can hear her, there are times when he’s playful and more content... but when he hears her, he strains at the cage corners and just seems so desperate. And Tortie wasn’t. I don’t think she’d have answered momma any more and momma would have gone away. But she won’t give up now as long as she knows they’re still here and answering back.
