This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
She sure is a pretty little thing! Nice to see she’s calmed down and is pretty content at least some of the time.
And her mare, Maggie.
Yeh, a whole lot of drama. Hope you can get the orange one and mom.
That is a great picture of the mare! Makes me want to get one of those balls just to see what they’d do with it!
Yes, Janelle is having a ball with him so we’re getting a real kick out of watching. I think she will show him in an appy show this weekend. If she does, I’ll get pictures.
That’s right, I had forgotten that. I’m having trouble keeping up with your cats and kittens aren’t I? Lose the possums far, far away - they are nasty creatures.
I have no idea how she trained Maggie to do that either. This is a mare she bought back two-three years ago that was crazy as a loon too. I think Maggie is five years old.
GREAT JOB! He does look like a boy in the face. She’s so proud to see him; how sweet.
Maybe you can get some sleep now. Hope Mama stops yowling soon.
He is real quiet... overwhelmed by all this maybe... maybe just a cool customer. He doesn't cry when momma comes around, but the little tortie does, so I've been trying to keep the volume on the TV loud enough that they can't hear her under the house, and maybe she can't hear them.
And I put the beagle on a tie in the front yard. That will encourage momma to go on back to wherever it is she goes for the day. I don't want him loose because she's not thinking clearly and he might get her.
I took a picture of her in the dark... Ordinarily she wouldn't have let me get even this close. But her focus is on the window.
Breaks my heart when she's clawing at the window, she's really a goood momma.
Will you try and find the kittens homes now or have them fixed and let loose again?
The one gray kitten that we received with Peaches and the puppies, has never really came around, as far as social skills. He was probably about 9 months old and was a stray when the other people had him. He is friendly enough and will fetch toys for me, but holding him is another story.
I'll try to find the kittens pet homes, I think it's a better life than life as a feral.
That’s great news about catching Bro! Sis looks so happy to see him. I love it when they kiss on each other like that. He looks content enough. It’s sad about Mama though, but it had to be done.
They have the Siamese body type but come in a variety of colors, including calico/tricolor.
The ears, the almond-shaped eyes, the domed skull and almost absent stop, the prominent muzzle and the svelte body are dispositive (in my not particularly humble opinion). This is not a particularly extreme type, not in other words a show cat, but an average representative of the breed.
I showed Siamese for years, so I know the type.
...Oriental Shorthairs are intelligent, social animals who bond closely to their people. They are inquisitive, friendly, emotional, demanding and often quite vocal. Oriental Shorthairs have been likened to a Greyhound or a Chihuahua in appearance... The Oriental Shorthair is a self-coloured (non-pointed) member of the Siamese Family. They can be found in solid colors (white, red, cream, ebony, blue, chestnut, lavender, cinnamon, or fawn), smoke (white undercoat to any of the above except white), shaded (only the hair tips colored), parti-color (red or cream splashes on any of the above), tabby (mackerel/striped, ticked, spotted, and blotched/classic), and bi-colored (any of the above, with white). In total, there are over 300 color and pattern combinations possible...Oriental Shorthairs have expressive, almond-shaped eyes, a wedge-shaped head with large ears that fit in the wedge of the head. Their bodies are very elegant yet muscular...
Oops, you beat me to it. Sorry!
apologies not necessary — GMTA.
Is a nice looking little cat. I’ve always been fond of Calicos, and it would be fun to have one with the Siamese type and personality . . .
(he looks like a boy to me, around the face, plus he's a bicolor while the mom and the little girl are tortie.)
And take the possums far far away - across a good sized stream of running water if you can (in that respect they're just like witches). Don't try to get them out of the trap on site, they'll just get loose and maybe bite you. You may have to invest in a second trap and rotate them.
I have lots of personal experience with Ol Man Possum, we are covered up with them here in the South. My dog caught one awhile back -- she was parading around the yard shaking it with abandon and prancing, showing off her quarry to everyone (who were going, "Oh yuk, Shelley! Put it DOWN!")
(The current Labrador rate of exchange for one slightly battered possum is 2 Nutro Training Treats.)
After she eventually put it down, we had to rinse her mouth out with Listerine! YEEEECCCCCCCCCH!
My son wanted to bury the possum, but I told him we should leave it and see if it was only playing possum. Next morning it was gone, hopefully the Dog Experience will get through even its primitive little brain and it won't be back.
They are unbelieveably stupid. And malevolent.
