This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Here’s a little video of them:
LOL...It’s tempting, but since I’ll be moving sometime in a kittens life time to where they would have to be indoor cats I won’t. I don’t do litter boxs
Besides that, I think Susie would kill them...literally:(
I know I hate litterboxes too... but they’re so much fun. Have to get at least two though. I don’t know how I ended up with just one left. She’s got no one to play with that’s fun.
Barkley was a concern too, especially because he did kill one before they were brought inside, but he came around, under threat and just getting used to seeing them.
He... all the dogs growl when Wicket pounces on them, which she still does anyway... but last night ecurbh went to toss her off the couch, I think just to get her out of the way, and he threw her right onto Barkley while he was sleeping. Woke up, but didn’t snap at her, so I think he’s pretty safe now.
I’m sitting here talking to Kristy, and if I wasnt’ so cheap I’d get one of those automatic litter boxes. I could do that. But I still have Susie, and I don’t really care what others think:), she’s the queen and she’ll stay the queen:)...LOL
Is Suzie there today? Has she been in the room with them?
You could get a crate for the kittens to be in safe when you weren’t watching. I wouldn’t raise kittens or puppies without one any more.
No she’s not here. I was just telling Jenny, I need to start bringing her more with me. I miss her sometime, I’ve been staying down here so much, and she misses me. It’s just when she’s here, I have to walk her and it’s been so hot, I’ve been avoiding have to do that.
Crates are a good tool to have when raising pups and kitties, but I’d still worry that if I turned my head for even a moment she’d get it. I quit taking her down to Charlie and Jenny’s houses because she went after their full grown cats so aggressively. I think the only reason she got on so well with Bink is he was there when she was a tiny puppy, and he slapped her around pretty good a few times.
Do you take her to that park or some other out of the way place where you don’t have to pick it up?
I take her to the park, but if I’m down here all day, I like taking her to this other park where there are no streets to worry about, and it is a lot bigger and she can
roam around more and hunt squirrels.
Well, that does sound like more than just minor curiosity and such... but they do get to know which critters are theirs. It would be a bad scene if she got one though, so I understand. To prevent it you would have to get after her hard about it... queen or not. ;~)
I just think having something new to enjoy and laugh at and look after would be good for ya. It was fun for me, I know.
I really have enough to look after now...Grizzly has become a real house dog now too, and we make a pretty good family. Now that it is cooler I’m going to work at getting him leash trained so I can bring him down here too. He is very good in the house, lays down most of the time, and seems to enjoy being in more then out. I beginning to think he’d be fine down here, especially if I made it a daily routine of taking them to the bigger park where they could really run and get exercise.
Grizzly’s a good dawg. I’m sure he’s liking being inside :~)
Well, hopefully you’ll find some homes for those kittens. You know... You can let Kristy know that if she got her kitty spayed this wouldn’t happen. ;~)
When I was raising chicks, I kept them in a crate in the house. Susie would sit in front of the crate and just viberate! If a chick happen to stick his head thru the gate she’d claw at them or snap...killed a few. I had to move the crate to a table she could get too. I know I could correct her, but I’m afraid she’d kill one before I could get her trained. She really is an aggressive thing for her size, and when she gets focused on something it’s hard to turn her.
I’ve been watching that show alot called the “Dog Whisperer”...have you ever seen it? I’ve been using some of his techniques to get her to stop attacking Grizzly when he goes out the door. It’s working pretty well.
LOL...she took her two in to be spayed, but this one was too far along...she has an appointment to take her in a couple of weeks. The vet wouldn’t do it till the cats milk had dried up completely.
Cesar Milan.... He’s a Dog God. Yeah, I watch it. He’s got something about him.
The trouble is Grizzly (well everyone ;~D) lets her get away with that crap. My little Zulu was the queen too, when either of the other dogs could have put her in her place if they wanted.
She’s pushed Grizzly a few times too much, and it was really scary. He puts up with alot, but he does have a limit.
But I have been leaving them in the house together with the front door open so they can go out in the garden. So far no evidence of fights. I think they mostly sleep when I’m not there. Nothing to fight over:)
It is incredible what Cesar does with those dogs. I have to laugh sometimes...he’s so subtle about telling people they are the problem...lots of times it seems he’s really digging at them, and they mostly don’t act like they realize he’s calling them fools:)
