This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
That would scare me away! Building sign looks very professional.
That ought to do it! Kinda like the sign that a gas station owner posted by his pumps that said “All Drive-Off’s will be shot at”. Said drive-offs had dropped to zero after he posted it. ;o)
Great pictures and video :)
Bob calls it the gym because it is a real workout for the horses. Rocky is so like his dad - loves the camera.
That sign turned out really nice - I like the font and the colors you chose.
Congratulations. Awesome to win ribbons first time out, you have a star :)
The pictures of Slick are just down at the end of our street, ride right out the front gate. The “gym” is about five miles away as the crow flies but that also involves a serious mountain so Bob and Janelle trailer there.
I really like the parking lot signs too - yes it is all very professional looking.
That is a beautiful mare.
She sure loves her dad...
Thanks for the compliments! Little Dandie sure did a lot of growing up this last weekend. She’s ready for backing, and that’s coming up here in the next week or so. We’ve tacked her up completely and walked her aroud with nary a twitch. So she’s gotten well used to the whole process.
But you never know until you get on ‘em.
What a neat little guy!
I love your forest, as usual. It’s just what I imagine when I think of Hansel and Gretel or Little Red Riding Hood when I see the entrance to the trails.
My MRI showed nothing was broken, but the doctor wants to see me on Tuesday. The nurse said he wanted to have a long chat with me. Now I am worried what that is all about. My hip and leg feel a lot better....no pain meds for a couple of days at least.
A group of ladies (20 of us) who used to be in 4-H together, years ago, had a get together last night. One of them lives in Texas and comes every year to visit family and we all get together. It was a lot of fun to see them all again and reminisce of the "good old days". Even my 89 year old 4-H advisor was there!
The ankle is good. I went to the doc yesterday and he said the x-ray showed it was healing fine, so that’s a relief. I don’t go back again until September 2nd and it should be completly healed by then.
I’m glad your MRI showed nothing was broken. Hopefully the doctor visit will just be the typical “take care of yourself better” stuff.
The 4H reunion sounds like fun, especially since your advisor is still doing well enough to make it too. It’s really a great inspiration when Seniors still have that kind of vitality. I hope I’m doing that well at that age!
So, no new shows for Alison here lately? Or has going back to school slowed her showing down?
It is slow here.
Good to hear everyone is healing, and MT had no breaks, and hoping for the best for you from the doctor visit.
Well, I just went out and fed horses!
These horses are so dang picky. We bought some cheaper hay... “Local Orchard Grass” it said. $8 a bale instead of the $16 I think our usual stuff is running. Looked better than our usual local, it’s green anyway.
Horses hate it. They leave it and would rather pick at the dead pasture.
I think they’d just have to learn to like the local stuff if they belonged to me! ;o) There’s no way I’d pay $16 a bale for hay.
Well, in fairness, the bales aren’t equal. While these bales are heavier than average, they’re about 70 pounds probably... the $16 bales are 100-120. So - I can still come back around in the argument that says pound for pound the expensive stuff that they actually will eat all of is a better value than the $8 stuff they waste half of.
Then I’d say they are not all that hungry then.
