The $27 million was his take, after taxes, from Kentucky's Powerball lottery. Edwards, 46, had been laid off shortly before he bought the winning ticket at Clark's Pump N Shop in Ashland, Ky., a blue-collar town on the Ohio River where he grew up.

He became a convict in the early 1980s after a gas station hold-up, followed by parole violations and arrests for drug possession. He was in and out of prison, and finally out for good in 1997

Poor people have poor ways. Even the powerball couldn’t rescue this doofus.

A $240,000 Bentley, a $250,000 Lamborghini and a $250,000 Ferrari all in the first 4 months. I’m surprised he lasted almost 6 years without going broke.

I saw him on a show about lottery winners and another one called The Curse of the Lottery.

I wonder what the statues of Jake and Elwood Blues are going to sell for...

I read it twice but maybe I missed something. Is he broke? Did he forfeit his winnings because he was arrested for drugs? Sure, the guy bought a few houses and cars but he won $27 mil!

What happened to his money?

I think I saw this guy on a TV show about lottery winners. He was portrayed (or portrayed himself) as one of the responsible winners. Looks like he spoke too soon.

Almost a repeat of that Contractor in West Virginia who won $350 Million in the Powerball and he has squandered all of it and lost his granddaughter to drugs.

Yeah 27 million. First thing I do is spend $750,000 on 3 new cars. Then with what's left over let me start shooting and snorting my money into my body.

Geez how do spell LOSER

Yup,I saw that too.If I ever won a multi million dollar prize I'd give most of it to charity, a bit of it to each of several relatives and keep two or three million for myself.

I’d buy a somewhat larger house on a quiet street to retire to raise my kids in.

Of course it would have a huge home theater and a huge library for dad. And a REALLY large closet for my wife...

And I would get the Touring version of a Honda Odyssey with all the bells and whistles to haul the kids in style...

There is a great quote from satirist Dorothy Parker....”If you want to know what God thinks of money.....look at the people he gave it to” LOL!

How do you blow $27 million away? I couldn’t do it. I’d live off of $2 million for 40 years ($50K/yr) and invest/bank the rest.

I will have to agree, the article leaves out helpful information that would help someone, not familiar with the case, understand the reason for the auctions.

The wrong people almost always win these things. A while back some people won & spent it throwing DAILY parties.
