Please DO NOT read this thread if you have not seen the movie. Even if you have read this book, topics under discussion can affect what you will expect in the last book.
Several pet theories for the Deathy Hallows have, perhaps, been laid to rest by the release of this movie. A number of plot points I had thought were important to the end of the series were completely left out of Order of the Phoenix.
1. There is absolutely NO reference to the cleaning of Grimmauld Place. Thus, any speculation about the locket horcrux being hoarded by Kreacher must be false.
2. The prophecy was never heard in full. The portion of the prophecy which could have referred to Neville instead of Harry was omitted.
3. There was no mention of Percy's estrangement from his family. Percy was shown at Fudge's side at important points, but unless his face was remembered from previous movies, people not reading the book may not have caught that.
There were two plot changes which puzzled me. Cho was the one who gave Dumbledore's Army away, not the unimportant character of Marietta. Also, Sirius, before he falls through the veil calls Harry, "James". I assume these changes have a point, but I don't know what.
There was also no reference to Hermione and Ron being Prefects. There was no Quidditch at all, so Ron would not be on the team.
I didn't care much for Goblet of Fire, but I did really enjoy this one. It had the problem of trying to tell too much story in 2 hours and 20-odd minutes. A LOT was skipped over. I don't know how non-book readers follow the story, but my husband seems to do well enough.
There weren't any slow points. Although from time to time I noticed people in the theater opening their cell phones to check the time, I never wondered how much longer it had.
Yes...you.... guess I better check for ticket availability online for tomorrow morning...the suspense is killing me!!
;D
Thatt’s why I’ve already seen it...
Can’t you make a showing tonight?
LOL!! Well, we did take our 9 year old son. Can you imagine me, at 3:00am, with all these thoughts tumbling around in my head driving me crazy? I had no one to discuss it with!!
Thank God for FR...
Too late, my son already knows how to “disapparate”...especially when chores are involved..
As for myself, I’m desperately looking for a wand and spells that make the vacuum cleaner come alive and meals cook themselves...
And a house elf would be nice....
You know, I probably could...I’m just afraid it may be a zoo.. but there are certainly enough shows...now what would be the best one to pick??? And I’m in the middle of making dinner right now... thats why I need a wand and some of Mrs. Weasley’s recipes...
;D

I enjoyed it, but was really distracted by what was/was not added to the movie and wondering if such and such a scene would be shown.
With the exception of Harry being so godawfully angry and emotional, this was my favorite book. I was glad that he was toned down. It seems to me that there was so much jumping from one thing to the next to advance the plot, that character development was nothing.
Umbridge was absolutely perfect.
I see. Thanks. : )
Nope!
What is your view about Prof. Snape?
Do you think he’s good or evil?
Well, Ginny seemed obviously miffed about Harry and Cho in this movie, so I guess they'll bring that in somehow in the next movie by Ginny going out with someone to try to make Harry jealous.
Igor Karkoroff is found dead in the beginning of HBP. It is revealed during a discussion at the Weasley's during Harry's birthday celebration.
I’d go for the first one after dinner. The dishes can wait...
We know that Elvis bonked each of his female co-stars in his 33 (or so) cinematic delights. Does Harry?
He called out to Harry, "Good one, James", after Harry performed a spell against one of the Death Eaters. Harry gave him a strange look when he did so.
Oh I’m not going. We went to that theater for GoF and with all the servers walking around it’s really distracting. When I went to pick up my tickets for GoF I saw them from a distance. They were a lot taller then I thought they would be (for some reason in my mind all movie people are around 5’7” LOL) and their hair was a much darke red then in the films. I think it’s really neat that they are coming here again though. We’re just a little town outside of Chicago, so it’s pretty cool they they choose to come back here instead of one of the bigger theaters downtown.
I tried to find the old thread.
Fred and George put the W in the sky right after the fireworks. Wasn't there a single W as the logo on the skiving snackboxes?? It was for Weasley, I assumed.
The midnight showing our teenagers and I went to was mostly teens and young adults, with a few, ahem, middle aged folks like me, mixed in. The theater had already sold out the one theater they were were showing it in, so they opened a second one. We were running a bit late, and only got there 10 minutes before showtime, so we were in the second one, which was good, because it wasn’t crowded. There was about a 15 minute delay getting the movie started, though, because I guess they had to scare up a second projectionist, or whoever runs the booth.
