A Chicago television reporter’s job could be on the line after videotape surfaced of her at the home of missing mother Lisa Stebic.

WMAQ reporter Amy Jacobson, who has covered Stebic’s story, was caught on tape by the pool at the Stebics' home last week by rival channel WBBM Channel 2. The tape reportedly shows Jacobson “in a swimming suit top” at the pool on Friday with her children and Lisa Stebic’s estranged husband, Craig

I think the inference is the reporter had an ongoing relationship with the man, she offed the wife during the “going to exercise class” ruse, and in an irony, is covering her own criminal case!! But she dropped her guard too soon, and now the brilliant crime is starting to be exposed...

I don’t know if that’s what really happened, but this scenario would make a better TV movie.

I am not from Chicago but they said she was a very high profile television news reporter for I believe an NBC affiliate.

Can't say. I never watch network news; haven't for years. Her name and face aren't familiar to me. Here in Rochelle, we get both Chicago and Rockford stations through cable. But the only time I'll watch anything they offer is if it has local interest for me; and that would normally be through Rockford.

I don't know if there's anything more to this story or not, beyond a very stupid decision. But the fact that a cameraman for a competing network was at a neighbor's house to videotape the situation tells me they were aware of something.

Did those neighbors who claimed she visited before tip them off? Even further in left field; was she set up? I know, I know, that's really out there. Just thought I'd throw it out.

The media and our government become increasingly MORE disgusting.

Geez, when are we going to take our country back from these people?

Firing her was the stations only option. First thing I was taught was the Cardinal Rule of reporting -- you are here to report the news not BE the news.

Even if her story is true -- she was taking kids to club to swim and the Sister called and wanted to speak to her and said the kids could swim there -- this bonehead is still guilty of incredibly poor judgement and even worst ethics.

NBC owned and operated, not affiliate.

'Scuse my ignorance, but do the networks own some local stations, but others are independent (and called affiliates)?

I agree with you once the video came out, the station didn’t have too many options.

Yes, the networks used to own a majority of stations but now are down to a handful of "flagship" stations in places like NY, Chicago, LA (IE WABC, WNBC, etc.), while the bulk of stations are owned by the newer communications conglomerates.

It is actually going in a circle -- majority Network owned - to mostly independent or small groups - to majority conglomerate owned now.

This still doesn't answer the presence of the cameraman from a competing network (WBBM I think) being there at such an opportune time to videotape everything. What caused that?

Maybe the sister set her up, thinking she was trying to get evidence on her brother.

The sister is the one who invited her over. Just might be a set up.
