Pro wrestling is a sick and crazy world. In that context, I would consider guys like Dean Malenko, Benoit, Bret & Owen, and a handful of others to be fairly normal in that world.

Something unthinkable happened to Benoit’s mind that day. The bogey man of choice seems to be to blame steroids, but Benoit wasn’t pushed for a freaky physique. He was pushed for his talent.

As for the other person he reached out to, I’m sure we will find out. One of them was Chavo. I get the Wrestling Observer and no doubt some details will be revealed within those pages in the next week or so.

He wasn't pushed for his freakish physique, but he had one, complete with a disproportionately large upper body compared to his legs. As do Bob Holly, Rene Dupree, Sylvan Grenier, and countless other wrestlers that would be the largest men in any gym they walked into even if their bodies weren't central to their characters.

Wrestlers use steroids even more than lawyers drink (something I know about...personally). No secret there. Cops use steroids too, by the way, when they work out, so while Booker T's post is right on target, he could have used a better example than the wife-killing cop. It's just that Benoit's actions seem way too premeditated and coordinated for simple 'roid rage. Something else must have been going on in his mind (insanity, evil, who knows), but once the media hears "steroids," that's it, end of story. Steroids have magical powers to hit home runs, score perfect 10s on the balance beam, and murder their families, as if no human being is involved.
