At this rate there is not going to be anybody who does not have patent protection from MS... It will be interesting to see what kind of a financial deal linspire struck with someone who was suing them several years back.

i’ve been looking for this to happen for about two years now. Linsipire is trying to take away much of the Windows Market, and interoperability with Microsoft is the key. If Microsoft is willing to license such things to Linspire and/or other Linux distributers, what is the reason to have Windows?
Microsoft doesn’t loose out either, selling applications ported to Linux still means sales and $$ to Microsoft.
No need for the hostility that has existed.

These deals with MS have driven me toward Fedora, initially, and now Debian. I don’t trust the longterm viability of mostly one-man projects - however much I like Slackware, in particular, in other ways.
