I am a housewife. Should I violate probation, the consequence would be a "go to jail" card. I know this.

And what do you think your odds of getting released early to serve your sentence out as house arrest are? About 99 to 1. No, the judge is caving to public opinion, but they don't do that for gay, illegal, flag-burning protesters. Doesn't fit.

Evidently you are not familiar with county lockup. Also, I never thought I would disagree with Ann Coulter. In Texas if you get pulled over for a suspended license you automatically go to jail, no questions asked, you go to jail.

For the love of God, she's in county lockup, not the federal pen.

I've only been in county lockup, but the veterans of the system I was in there with told me that the hardest time you can ever do is county lockup.

Unlike a prison, there is NOTHING to do. You just sit. Time drags incredibly. Each day seems like a week.

I must admit that I felt a bit of sympathy for her when they carted her off to the slammer.

I am a mother of two teenagers.

I have no sence of symapthy.

Well to be precise it was 3 probation violations.
Everyone keeps forgetting about the classes she was supposed to take but did not.

I am furious, they’re jerking this china doll around and someones going to drop her...hell , they did! Her damn agent told her it was ok to drive, she was dumb to listen to him, all right. Dumb to want to drive. MOST people get out of there within days due to overcrowding. Now they’ve let her out and gone back to collect her!? and act like she’s committed a second crime just for being released yesterday. What do we know of her psychological maturity, what do we know of all the money-makers behind all this. Someone wants a “money shot” of her in a cell. Here we have another “eat the rich” thread, F.R. as ugly as I’ve ever seen it. whooopeee! An heiress cries. To H*ck with these posters roooaaaaararrrrrrrrrr

Probably the Darling Family (if I'm reading that right).

I don’t have any problem with her getting jail time. I suspect though that the judge is going out of his way to make sure that she gets what she’s got coming. And I have no problem with him doing that, either, but I suspect that it’s the first time in his career that he’s gone to such extremes. Too bad we can’t get judges to take such an interest in making sure that “justice is done” in cases involving murder, rape and child molestation.

He’s bending over backward to make sure he’s not accused of letting her off easy.

amazing, shoot a husband in the back and orphan three children and you only get sentenced to three years.

However different states.

Most states have made their drunk driving laws pretty uniform. She is not getting anything spectacular. However once IN custody, the sherriff’s office has to take appropriate measures to ensure she is not harmed from other prisoners.

However there is a issue here that we have not touched on. There is a class of defendant who is intelectually unreachable. These are the gangbanger types for whom the courts are just a part of career criminal life. Those people recieving the same 45 day sentence would have expressed far more contempt for the courts than any snobby paris hilton type.

By fighting so hard, Paris is traumatizing herself more then anyone. She isn’t getting good advice. She manipulated the system to get out, she should have never done that. Now that it has been reversed, this is why we are witnessing the uncontrollable screaming and crying, she is doing more to make herself upset then anyone else. She should be careful, she could end up working herself up into a complete breakdown.

You are a wise mama. (Must've raised daughters.)

My own daughter just had surgery earlier this week. The pain is bad. If I don't let her get worked up, she can stay on top of it. If I let her cry... we're to the point where only drugs work. She's spending all of her time either sleeping or focusing on staying above the pain.

(She's Reaper Freeper, BTW)

Seriously Paris, when a judge says "Be in my Courtroom at 10:00 am", BE THERE. Not being there only irritates them, and THEY have the power to really ruin your day for it.

What a circus.

Did the judge originally rule that she couldn't get time off for good behaviour? If not, what exactly did she do wrong to lose that privilege?

The sheriff let her go. She didn't break out. I've got no particular sympathy for her, but fair's fair, and 23 days already seemed excessive. To me, anyway.

My rational opinion, as one who has been struck TWICE by drunk drivers who were driving on suspended licensee while on probation for previous DWIs -- is they were entirely TOO easy on this obnoxious and out of control skank...

My dad was killed by a DUI. I agree with you completely.
