It’s no toy - it looks like some Silicon Valley engineer’s very cool garage project.

***Yup. Possibly electrogravitics or ion propulsion.

Red, there is probably a tutorial on Phun with Photoshop Phor Phlying Photographers out there then, because we have 4 different photographers, 4 different dates, 4 different locations, and some different configurations of it. No wind evident from photographers directly underneath it tho.

It’s really quite easy.
You mix and match parts from another model to create the “body” that you want.

Check out the set of photographs from the 4 different photographers. The original post (1st viewing) showed the thing clear enough to make out the lettering on it.

Okay, so I say again...what kind of flying toy or toys did they start with to build this thing? If you were going to build one, how would you go about it?

I was thinking of getting out in the woods again this afternoon. Better take the camera just in case I see the Sporktesian Cruiser again.LOL! I took my daughter back to UCSC the l-o-o-o-n-n-g-g-g way arround. We just happened to pass through Capitola...

GEESH!
Just go to a hobby store. Look at the models you can assemble. Pick one out. Got to a toy store and get a remote controlled plane or something. Remove the outer body of the toy and build the model around the body of the toy. Truly, it’s a no brainer.
Now, no more questions!

You're not getting it, bud. Airplanes fly specifically
because of their shape. You can't just swap out the exterior structure and get something that flies.
Besides which, as I said before, I don't see a propeller on that thing...and RC model airplanes have propellers.
So far your theory isn't working out so well, but I'm willing to listen to further explanations.

The antenna like wires sticking up above the central opening gives a clue. My vote is on a ducted
Ion jet lifter with microwave power transmitted to it from a ground based source.

I have read the sources at the link you provided.
My daughter made something like this with her friends, using an original Macintosh and the voltage provided to the picture tube. She did it with wire and tinfoil, and it flew.
I’m still trying to figure out the dimension to this craft, but the vertical wires are very interesting. You might be onto something. Given the 4 different dates and locations, and at least 2 configurations of the thing, it might be self-contained.

Thanks.
Quite a variety of different shots with this batch—including interesting foregrounds and backgrounds.
Should be easy to tell if it’s been photoshopped. I don’t think it has.

Bah.
It's merely a demonstrator for the advanced rotor technology used on the Hind helicopter.

The latest version replaces on of the spars with two short beaver tails with three whiskers each, it looks like an antenna array to me.
They also seem to have added crenelations to the bottom of the center ring, they could be antenna as well, or thrust vectoring?
I suspect it’s a prototype sigint drone/test bed.

I suspect its a prototype sigint drone/test bed. My thought too. Suspended from a high-altitude blimp, positioned over various & sundry communication EM-sources, I bet.
Of course, if this is the case, this means whomever is supposed to be in charge of OpSec has seriously screwed the pooch!
