Schilling says Bonds cheated on wife, taxes, baseball

Barry Bonds never has admitted to using steroids. Apparently, Curt Schilling believes he has. The outspoken pitcher of the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday took some verbal shots at Bonds, who needs 12 homers to break Hank Aaron's all-time home run record. Bonds has been at the center of baseball's ongoing steroids controversy, but never has admitted to knowingly taking steroids. Schilling must have thought otherwise during an interview with WEEI on Tuesday. "He [Bonds] admitted he used steroids. There's no gray area," Schilling said on WEEI. "He [Bonds] admitted cheating on his wife, cheating on taxes and cheating on the game."

I used to like Bonds a lot more when he avoided the media. He is a most unlikable person.
I'm sure that CS is a decent guy, like you said, but his reputation as a drama queen seems to have followed him at every stop in his career. Perhaps it's unwarranted. Being on the West Coast and not a huge baseball fan, the only things I have to go on are statements such as this unwarranted, unsubstantiated, personal attack on Bonds' private life.
BTW, go Dodgers!

My main concern is the degree of legitimacy that his breaking of Aaron’s record would have.My personal opinion is that it would have none.If I were Aaron I’d be shouting from the rooftops that Bonds’ “record” means nothing.

Henry Aaron has stayed out of the issue to this point, and that's wise of him, because I fear what this is all leading to is a great muddled mess. Bud Selig, as angry as he clearly is at Bonds for what we all know he did, has been unwilling to publicly call him out on it, either through suspension, fines or verbal rebuke. For the Commissioner to do so would be to admit that Baseball has an official steroid "Problem", and that "Problem" could be detrimental to the sport's revenue stream enhancement strategy, which in this age of $15 million-a-year banjo-hitting shortstops could be an even Bigger Problem.
And if Bud calls out Barry, he would also have to call out...Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Jose Canseco, and - more to the point - all of the currently active players that Kirk Radomski is itching to finger as needle-users. Another name that might come up would be (dare I say it?)...the Yankees' new $28 million part-time partner from Texas who somehow seems to have more muscle mass at age 44 than he did at 34.
And then we'd really be in the "Steroid Era": all recent records tainted or at least suspect. And how would you know for sure where the asterisks belonged, and beside whose names, and for which records? You wouldn't - none of us would. And there would lie Major League Baseball: waist deep in the Big Muddle. And the big fool Bonds just tells us to push on.

I hate to be picky, but what about Schilling's statement was unwarranted or unsubstantiated. All three types of cheating (taxes, wife and baseball) have all been attested to in separate court cases. These are not just unfounded rumors. Again, Schilling answered the follwing (paraphrased) question, "Do you think people are having to hold their noses while watching Barry Bonds break the HR record?" I, for one, am glad he didn't take give a typical "let's not offend Barry answer".
As far as being a drama queen, I think that's unwarranted and unsubstanitated. The man is outspoken and expresses himself very well. That doesn't go over well with the MSM who think that they're smarter than everyone else, so they trash him.

Rush, got fired for uttering the like.

While my google search has not been exhaustive, I can find nothing but unsubstantiated rumors about his being tax cheat. But it sounds like he did have a mistress for a time.

Please.
You think Bonds is the only one who has taken anything to help his performance?
You can hate him all you want, I don't really care. Pro sports is just entertainment and just isn't that important in the big picture. I'm a 40 year Giants Fan, love to go to games, want them to win, etc., but spitting up blood over millionares playing a game, ain't worth my time.
That being said, Go Barry.

Does Mark McGwire’s single season home record have an asterisk attached to it?

I think if this was Mark McQwire the MSM would be making a big deal of it....Bonds is getting a pass for a reason which I am suspicious of ...

Oh please! Mark McSteroid not only got a pass he was celebrated by baseball the entire year he fraudulently chased and passed the single season home run record. Remember the commissioner flew the Maris family out to watch the roid freak break the record their dad set steroid free. Then the roid injecting freak went on to testify before Congress that he wouldn't tell children that steroid use was bad for the game. How's that for getting a pass?

Does Mark McGwires single season home record have an asterisk attached to it?If I had my way, I would still have Maris with the record.
