De La Hoya vs. Mayweather LIVE THREAD May 5th, 2007
Posted on 05/05/2007 11:53:47 AM PDT by Vision
Pay per view starts at 9pm. This is the fight of the year.
Mayweather is probably the best fighter in boxing right now. It will be great to see how Oscar shows up for this; it may determine the rest of his career.
Right now tradebetx has it to win:
Mayweather -199
Hoya +170

My two cents...it's not a matter of who will win, but how bad Hoya will lose. But Oscar is a true champion who has surprised me before.
Two great guys with a lot of talent.

I'm not paying all that money to see a fight I can watch on HBO in a week or two
That said, Mayweather should win (Based on my vast boxing knowledge ;-D)
Of course many a boxer that should win doesn't always show up on fight night.

Does anyone know what time this stats est? The fight itself?
It’s on in the uk, for free on sky tv, but the programme starts at 2am and likely the fight won’t start till some time later?
To: Vision
Odds are of course heavily in favor of Mayweather, but I don’t think they are taking into account that Mayweather has ever really taken any good shots like De La HOya can deliver. I’m not saying De La Hoya will win, but that perhaps the true probabilty of him winning is greater than the current odds.

Mayweather is too fast for hoya- Not sure about his power, but I think his speed is going to be the deciding factor- the only real damage hoya will do is with a lucky left hook that catches weather offguard, but weather is ALWAYS on guard, so this is going to be a tough battle for hoya. I predict hoya’s eyes will be swollen shut/bloody in 7’th round

Excellent! Thanks for the Ping! Will come back for PBP
To: Rodney King
He’s got a decent chin; I don’t think he’s ever been knocked down. Mayweather and his family are good people and the real deal.

Glad to see you're man enough to make predictions. I see Mayweather by decision, but a brutal fight.

Sure is sparky.
I wanted to go but it didn’t work out in the end. Michael Savage will be ringside or in the front row.

I’m just predicting bloodied/swollen eyes- not a descision- if I had to go with a decision, I’d probably say a T.K.O for Mayweather in the 10’th due ot the eyes.
