Well, we could discuss how long bit of food has to rest on the floor (after falling from your plate) before you would refuse to eat it. Eww. No 10-second rules at my house!

Around here, I would NOT want to eat much of anything that fell on the floor. My cat Tiki)whom I have shown here before), is BIG, and nosy, and so—there is a VERY good chance that wherever food drops—has has been there recently, or will come there. Not too mention—he vomits a lot, and I do NOT want any of “that “ in my food!!

I am more of a “three second rule” person. If the surface is rather clean, then I may push it to five seconds.

When I lived with roommates about 6 years ago...it was felt the floor was probably cleaner than the plates.
