The banning issue is based on something BIG with JR.

While each of us might disagree with who was banned and wasn’t banned (and I have my STRONG views on that), the larger issue driving JR is that he created this forum to serve as a Conservative force.

While he has tolerated much, the fact is an election is coming and JR sincerely believes Rudy is NO CONSERVATIVE. I realize Rudy is a mixed bag but he does present problems to the extent that JR doesn’t want to provide a gathering ground for that group in general who might strongly differ with his definition and brand of Conservatism.

Yes, Howlin was for Thompson (but deeply resented anyone defining Conservatism for her to her disadvantage here, which JR is free to do, and has done), so you see it isn’t as simple as banning all who are for Rudy. Some are still here who do support him but maybe they go about their views in an understated, inoffensive way.

Well summarized TXR

I have a problem with Home Pages stating that the account has been “banned or suspended” when in fact some people manipulated their own account closings with insults and baiting.

Many of the disgruntled FR members opted to join the Wideawake blog, started by MadIvan back in March. JR’s thread was a restatement of his conservative principles which exclude his support of Rudy as the GOP primary for POTUS candidate.

During the discussions, many FReepers became outraged and insulting - it was a full fledged Frebellion.

Sad part - the refugees are using the WA site to vent their anger and coming over here to recruit existing FR members away. Folks should join a forum for positive reasons, not as vengeance.

I do not want to discuss that on this thread. We all decided in the very first thread we didn’t want to drag political discussion over to the ANS thread.

One thing I will say is that imo, this election could be the most important one in a couple of hundred years. Our country is facing big problems. If the wrong person gets elected, America as we know it may cease to exist.

Please don’t think I’m wearing my tinfoil too tight ;-) There is just too much treachery going on to ignore, imo. Pelosi cutting backroom deals with our enemies? Clinton is running for president? A green horn named Obama actually being given some serious consideration about his suitability as president? Edwards, Kerry, and Algore? Disasters! I still won’t count them 100% unelectible. Lots of stupid DUer’s, tree huggers, and Hollyweird types out there.

We do have some talent running for president on the Republican side. I’m glad that Duncan Hunter is speaking out; I’m liking him more and more. Ditto Fred Thompson(sh*t or get off the pot, bud.) I like Tancredo, and yes...I like Rudy. It’s a long way until the primaries, and an even longer time until the election is held in 2008. Right now, I’m biding my time, gathering input from my fellow FReepers, family, and friends.

God help us if we make a mistake. Having said that, whoever has the ‘R’ behind his name is the man I will vote for. Please God don’t let it be McCain :(
