I think you're right about the tape. If I was Virgie, I would have pulled it, too.

Remember also, that in the "I Hate Mommy" tape, Howard leans TWICE into camera view and tells Anna "Tell them this was left on a tape". In other words, she never said any of that in a two way conversation with her mother.
