Becasue she’s not exactly a prime example of how to raise a child. IMO, of course.

Where's everybody's mind? Virgie watched Danny from the time he was 3 mos old...FOR SIX YEARS. There's NOT a lot of grandparents that would take that on AND SHE DID IT FOR NOTHING.

Danny was a nice young man and Virgie had a lot to do with it. Danny always appears "uncomfortable" with his mom. Yes, he loved her...but I'm sure he wished everyday that she was not into what she was into.
