I don’t think Debra Opri is going to the Bahamas to present HKS with a bill...BUT that post got me wondering...If Larry is determined to be the biological father of DL, would it be possible for him to request that HKS pay his attorney’s fees? Especially since HKS (and ANS before her death) contested and resisted the CA ruling? If they (ANS and eventually HKS) had complied with the CA ruling, it seems obvious that Larry’s attorney fees would be a lot less astronomical.
I know that it is possible and even customary to request that one party pay the other party’s attorney’s fees in the U.S., but is that something that happens in the Bahamas? If not, could Larry sue HKS for the attorney’s fees in the CA courts (since he filed for paternity there to begin with)? I’m just curious, because if Larry is determined to be Dannielynn’s father (as I EXPECT he will BE), I absolutely think that HKS AND ANS’s estate SHOULD pay his attorney’s fees!! Especially since Anna, with HKS’s help, fled to the Bahamas, specifically to DENY Larry his parental rights as Dannielynn’s biological father!!
Hopefully, there is some recourse for Larry as far as this is concerned, and he will not have to worry about Debra Opri’s outrageous bill...since he should have never had to go to the lengths he had to go to just to be a part of his daughter’s life!!
