Just getting back on topic, I agree with you. I am looking forward to the day Virgie tells her side of the story. Not sure what to think about her, but if I were in her shoes, I’d fight til my dying breath not to let what happened to my child and grandchild happen to my new grandchild. I imagine she’s wondering why she didn’t break down the gates of Horizon that day she went to visit. She might have found her daughter in a stupor, never knowing her mother came to visit. She might have dragged her out like when she was a wild teenager. But this time, might have saved her life. That what/if would haunt me as a mother til the day I died.
Have been at FR since 1998. There have been LOTS of ups and downs here. Every so often a big hubub occurs and people leave or get banned. Often later they come back.
I understand the concerns of both groups.
IMHO, every time someone talented like MiaT or sharpwitted like Howlin is banned, we lose in our attempts to fight the anti-American leftists who are so entrenched in so many places of power in this country and in the world. Our numbers are dwindling. That's not good, IMHO.
At the same time I understand the need to stand for the ideals that made this country great and which are so essential to keeping our nation as free as possible against the coming darkness.
So I see both points of view. I am hoping once the primaries are through, that all will come unite to fight the good fight against the leftist juggernaut that is the Demonrat left.
In the meantime, I'll hang out mostly here. And on a few other threads of interest.
Now back to the subject at hand. It seems Larry B has succombed to the Stern illusions....am very sorry for that.

I wonder if Larry's involvement with Stern is what caused the final break between him and Debra Opri? Wish someone could get through to him that he's not helping himself with his new attitude and involvement with Stern, and the once favorable opinion of him is dwindling, IMO.

Do you mean sharp-wit or sharp-tongue? Sorry, but I recognized Howlin as a poster who thought FR was her own private domain and loved to piss on it to mark her territory. My little dachshund has better neighborhood manners than Howlin.
Wouldn’t we all be happily surprised if Larry leaves tomorrow sans Stern and issues a statement that he and Opri planned the strategy of appearing to be aligned with Howard while at Horizons? Wouldn’t that be nice? Opri did say that she was proud of Larry and that he had followed his lawyer’s advice.

Very well could have. Or the fact that Larry HAD to have Stern’s favorable side since the baby is still with Stern. And then it could be for other reasons that LB has gone over to the Stern team. LB has a short memory or just doesn’t want to face the truth about Stern......to his and that baby’s detriment, IMHO.
It would be a nice dream, for sure, but Larry has only been given either temporary custody or simply permission to take her briefly. HKS is still very much in control. What do you think the chances are that HKS might have only ‘allowed’ LB to take DL, as long as HKS ‘supervised’ the trip? It is the only reason I can figure that HKS might be travelling with LB & DL. But who knows,, if there is no risk of loosing DL,...maybe once they arrive in the states, LB will tell HKS to go take a long walk on a short pier.
Now I don’t know how others would interpret comments such as: “You’re an idiot”,

JR took it with humor, grace and humility as I knew he would.
He is not a despot, just the principled founder of this site for conservative causes. It is no surprise that a level of despair and wandering in the desert has infected the GOP grassroots since Nov.2006. As well as a level of panic that causes us to glom on to the first candidate who gets any MSM attention. JR believes we should be more fearless, faithful to conservative principles and reach higher. It’s all about winning - not whining and compromise.
Now get out there and be of sound heart and strong will.
But have been here long enough to see a lot of sharp tongued people on FR who are not banned.
And flaming posters are as old a "tradition" as FR is. As old as the internet is.
Anyway - things have just become intense especially lately because, frankly, we don't have any strong conservative candidates this time around - meaning strong conservative candidates with strong followings at this point in the election process.

Not true. I know someone who was banned for being a “gay rights supporter”. That was the actual reason given on the page when trying to post. The offense? Not thinking that all homosexuals are pedophiles.

I wasn't referring to your calling JR 'an idiot'...that was funny, because I thought you were just having a little fun and trying to lighten things up a bit. It worked for me, because I laughed. I was referring to JR calling Peach an idiot, plus other insulting remarks. I never called him a despot - that was my complaint about him - he didn't follow the guidelines he set for HIS forum.
I am a fiscal and social conservative, and I want to win as much as he does. However, we may have a different approach to winning. I won't compromise my conservative principles, but I prefer to win by trying to be smarter, not louder and nastier. Some of those who left for whatever reason, were trying to explain why they were supporting someone that I have no intention of voting for. I don't see why their opinion couldn't have been posted and ignored if you didn't agree with it! If you wanted to disagree, do it civilly w/o the name-calling and insults. That's just my opinion, and I will be of sound heart (and I hope sound mind) and strong will. You keep your sense of humor and spread it around. I'd rather laugh than to moan any time!
IMO, if Peach and Howlin were banned, there are about a dozen more who should have been banned for their rudeness and vulgar comments.

Oh yes, I was told that I should be burned in a digusting violent death for daring to post that hemp was a resource that the lumber lobbyist got outlawed and that we could possibly use better fuel products if it weren’t for ‘big oil’. I was called a pot smoking hippy and I, of course, should die for that. (which I’m not, hemp is not pot and I wasn’t talking about selling hemp rope necklaces)

Uh oh, my days are numbered. I support Rudy. He’s a much better choice than Hillary and I’m afraid that true conservatives as most of us would like are a minority enough we don’t have the power to get someone up against her. But alot would be willing to vote Rudy over her. And personally, I don’t think Rudy is that bad. I don’t agree with everything of his, but heck, I don’t agree with everything of Pres. Bush either (can you say immigration?)
