I'm not sure how all this will end up, though.

This was one of 13 Rolls-Royces on the block at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance auction in Florida.
A billionaire Houston trial lawyer who has collected more than 800 classic cars now owns most of the Rolls-Royce cars that Columbus developer Richard J. Solove put on the auction block.
John O’Quinn successfully bid on eight of Solove’s 13 Rolls-Royce automobiles that were sold Sunday at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance auction in California.
Solove’s collection, which included two other cars, sold for $14.3 million. He’s donating the money, minus auction expenses, to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, as well as Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Solove, 82, had predicted that the cars would go for about $15 million.
The collection’s “Corgi,” a 1912 Rolls-Royce SG limousine, sold for the most at $2.97 million.
The cars sold within an hour. O’Quinn bought all but one of the Silver Ghost models, which were the only known collection of first-series 40/50hp Ghosts, manufactured from 1907 through 1915.
He has been buying vintage cars for a number of years and plans to open a car museum in Houston in 2009. Among noted cars he already owns are a 1903 Ford Model A, a Batmobile, President Franklin Roosevelt’s 1941 Packard limousine and the 1975 Ford Escort used by Pope John Paul II.
O’Quinn has amassed a fortune heading up such cases as Texas’ $17.3 billion settlement with the tobacco industry and lawsuits against breast-implant manufacturers. Most recently, he represented Virgie Arthur, the late Anna Nicole Smith’s mother, in her battle to obtain custody of Smith’s daughter.
The lawyer purchased a number of other cars at the Pebble Beach auction, which broke an overall sales record of $60 million this year. O’Quinn could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Dr. David E. Schuller, senior executive director of the James, said Solove was treated like a rock star at the auction because of his donation.
“People were coming up and thanking him for what he was doing,” Schuller said.
The Rolls-Royce company presented Solove with a crystal bowl adorned with a traditional Rolls-Royce hood ornament; just before his cars hit the auction block, the audience of 2,000 gave Solove a standing ovation, Schuller said.
Solove has been collecting cars since the early 1970s and bought the last Rolls-Royce in his collection in February. He decided several years ago that he would sell them and donate the money to the James, which he helped establish in the 1980s.
“Dick has converted a unique collection of automobiles into something that will save thousands if not millions of lives,” Schuller said. O’Quinn told them he plans to retain Solove’s name on the collection when he displays the cars.
Solove is a first-generation American whose Russian immigrant father died of throat cancer in the 1950s.
Solove kept one Rolls-Royce — the 1931 Phantom II, the first one he bought.

I’m glad they corrected the line “... This was one of 13 Rolls-Royces on the block at the Pebble Beach Concours dElegance auction in Florida. ...” to say “in California.”
I could not for the life of me figure out why in the world they would have had the Concours in FL. You’d be amazed how many of the true crime cases I’ve researched that somehow or other wound up involving this car event.

As for Dannielynn’s BD event, I watch the same newscast every day as the one where they had a whole story on HKS NOT being invited and they have never said “ooops, we goofed” or otherwise taken back the original story.
And they *do* it sometimes, so if anyone did object to the story, the reporter would’ve said something. Not another word has been mentioned about Dannielynn or her BD at all - and nothing about O’Q’s add’l new car purchases, either - but that will come eventually. *oh, well, what can I say? I heard what I heard and I reported it here*

Sure will be anxious to hear what happens with Thompson’s latest civil case against the estate. ET was foaming at the mouth about how he had withdrawn the original suit.
Guess it never occurred to them that suing a dead person doesn’t have quite the potential for success that suing a dead person’s *estate* might. At least they *did* acknowledge the new lawsuit as well, but it certainly wasn’t the lead or headline.

Thought O’Q’s deposition with Leroy went well, for what it is - “jurisdictional.”
Another blow for Opri

Judge to Opri — You Get a Big Fat Zero!

Attorney Debra Opri just got shut down in her latest attempt to catch a fee.
Opri repped Pamela Bach, The Hoff’s ex, for a few months in the ongoing divorce saga. Opri’s bill — $189,000! Opri was fired on June 18. She then filed a motion asking the court to order The Hoff to pay her attorney’s fees.
Today, the judge signed an order rejecting Opri’s motion, ruling that Pam never gave her permission to go after The Hoff for the fees. Of course, you ask, why wouldn’t Pam want David to foot the bill? — she’d be off the hook.
We’re told Pam is angry at Opri and doesn’t want her paid, period. Ouch.
Pam is currently being repped by celeb lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, K-Fed’s mouthpiece.
Here’s the legal doc

O'Quinn is very good. Basically, he said "I ain't telling you sh** so get on your mule and get outa town.
What we know ABSOLUTELY now is that Virgie's son is supporting her in every way she can and that she is STILL O'Quinn's client.
It ALMOST looks like Opri is on a hit list.. The JUDGES keep nailing her.
(AMA has emphasized that no children under two should watch TV. This has to do with brain development and hyperactive behavior)
Why would Larry even TELL us that she’s watching the films. Larry’s got air between those two ears...but he’s got money in his pocket....lotsa money...thanks to Dannielynn.
Sac, with your experience with lawyers, do they all ask long-winded and confusingly-worded questions? I found some of Lin Wood's questions to be almost incoherent...am I wrong? I know he asked the same questions over and over after they were answered the first time. I think he was trying to trip up O'Quinn. I understand that a person is presumed 'innocent until proved guilty', but when there's been no indepth or thorough investigation into the death of ANS and Daniel, then why can't a person have their own opinion? Someone could say, "HKS had nothing to do with the death/murder of the two victims"; but, why can they get by with a positive comment without any evidence or proof that they are correct? There is more circumstantial evidence indicating the opposite is true, but we won't know until someone decides to investigate.
On page 194 of the deposition, O'Quinn's friend and fellow lawyer is preparing to leave the room and this exchange followed. Please tell me if I am wrong, but didn't Lin Wood sound like a smarta$$ when he interrupted their conversation with this comment:
THE WITNESS: Where you going to be?
8 MR. PIRTLE: I'm going to be around.
9 THE WITNESS: Then I'll call you.
10 MR. WOOD: He can't e-mail you, 11 because --
12 MR. KLEIN: We know that.
13 MR. WOOD: -- I just saw you waive 14 the BlackBerry.
15 MR. PIRTLE: I'll be in the 16 building.
17 THE WITNESS: I'll find you. 18 (Mr. Pirtle left the deposition 19 room.)
O'Quinn had told LW that he was "computer ignorant", and I thought LW had no business inserting himself into their conversation with that 'cutsie-pie' comment. I thought he was implying he didn't believe O'Quinn when he said he knew nothing about computers.
That’s not correct. His sister made the comment that he shows Dannielynn pictures of Anna and HOME MOVIES. He’s not showing her the Playboy Home Video..just home movies. I think it’s sad that people are speculating that CPS should be called over a story like this.
“Larry says that it’s important Dannielynn knows about her mom,” his older sister, Judy Birkhead told Us Magazine.
“He’s always telling Dannielynn how much he loved Anna and how great she was.”
Larry has put pictures of Anna Nicole throughout their home. “He’ll point at pictures and show Dannielynn videos of her too,” Judy told Us Magazine.

From the beginning, this suit has been just a "time killer" for Howard's side and I'm not sure anything was resolved with this head to head.
And I don't think that Howard's attorneys got what they HOPED for...A clue...as to what O'Quinn was "holding" in his hand.
This picture brought in $1,000,000. That one brought in $500,000. Yes, mommy loved you. And we’re going to take lotsa pictures of you, too.
Legal documents are in the files and that's what the paralegals and/or secretaries keep straight.
Most attorneys keep pretty rigid schedules...but there's always time for golf!! Most are very good people.
I just presumed that the objection was because of the AMA report warning parents against having children under two years of age watch TV shows/videos of ANY KIND, regardless whether they are "home" or "commercial" ones. It is the nature of TV watching at this age (instead of content) that possibly is the problem and numerous correlations support this concern.
Good.
Just guessing, but I think Trump called O'Quinn with the "Hey, John... That lady (Virgie) needs some help"
