Still having popup troubles here - driving me batty. Have fixed *some* of it, but it hasn’t stopped. Spent two whole days and many hours downloading blockers and scanning, plus uninstalling whatever I could.
My browser is still terribly messed up, but the “thing” isn’t freezing all my buttons anymore. I couldn’t use Notepad or Wordpad, so couldn’t even work on my Case Name List notes - which would’ve been nice, but I couldn’t surf the Net to get latest on things.
Couldn’t even use the “start” button, had to keep shutting down and rebooting over and over - and you know how long Windows takes to open and close! Aarrgh!
When I tried to put anything into google, the “thing” would take my search terms and put them into a search box on eBay and then take over my browser completely, making eBay full-screen, where I couldn’t even close it - had no controls at all. It also does the same thing with amazon.
I have a very long list of websites and companies to boycott! Why would any reputable company initiate, produce, approve, authorize, pay for, etc., any of these popup or popunder ads?
It has affected me terribly, especially not being able to come to the ‘Net and look up on radar where these storms are - how far away, how severe, how big, how long they’ll last. Can I walk to the store or not? Should I unplug phone and electronics or will it pass quickly?
Also, I can’t go do anything else, have to sit here and watch it, because they hijack and take over everything. At least I started keeping a list of the sites and I put them into my “restricted sites” zone. Ha ha, I thought that would block them, since none of my spyware blockers are doing so. Nope, it just puts up a little sign “restricted” when they popup!
I got rid of a whole lot of trojans and hijackers, with the new dowloaded stuff, but it wasn’t the right ones! They’re not detecting this “thing” that is trying to destroy me. And when they say they’re “free” downloads - (some of them 3 hours on my dialup - after saying they’d be 20 mins at the start!) - that’s just to “detect” - they charge $50 to remove them!
Anyway, I had one comment I wanted to try to get in here, if this will post, which I don’t know ... about the Benoit deaths ... I don’t know which part of the story is true, not sure anyone does, yet.
But we know human growth hormone has been mentioned, in relation to the little boy - but now some of that is being debunked. And the doctor who prescribed the steroids had his offices turned upside down by LE - and his home, too. That’s what they should have done with KE and perhaps others in ANS’s case.
At any rate, something posted on the Benoit thread reminded me of a thin connection to ANS. Chyna! Remember, she was in Illegal Aliens with Anna and she was saying how close they had been while filming - then Goen’s wife tried to claw her eyes out in that earliest interview?
Then, we never heard from or saw Chyna again - at least, I didn’t. Anyhoo, take a gander here and perhaps we should see what might come about:

Ran my spyware and anti-virus scans - have no clue what I am doing;)

Wendy Murphy made that recommendation - she may be the only ‘lawyer/prosecutor’ who remembers the ANS case.
The mcmedia syndrome - find it, cook it, serve it hot and discard the leftovers.
