If it's authentic there should be a couple of packs of Trojans in the glove compartment and a 1/2 pint of Jim Beam under the seat.

The last I heard, no one was really sure where it was buried. They'd forgotten. I guess they found it.

Just curious. Why was it necessary to excerpt this?

My dad has slides of the event where they buried the car. Interesting to see it come full circle like this.

Just curious. Why was it necessary to excerpt this?Don't know that it is. Personal thing. I like that site so it seemed the courteous thing to do. Well, courteous to them.

A 1957 Plymouth will sure look strange...now that it's 2007 and we all have flying cars. And personal robots, too!

I also remember that the cars back then had much wider seats, where you could easily lay down ad get some shut-eye if needed. My first car was a 56 Olds-88 and those big seats sure did come in handy --- but it wasn't for shut eye. ;~))

Loved the '57 Chevys. They were as solid as a brick...as opposed to my Plymouth, which was like driving a big piece of Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil down the road.

It had that goofy transmission button panel to the left of the steering wheel. If you revved it up and pushed "D," you could get some serious rubber.Dial-a-win shifter.

Yes, the more I look at it the more I like it. First photo I saw was bright red, so this seemed duller by comparison. But this was a bigger photo...

"The Plymouth was wrapped in plastic and buried in a concrete tomb and placed on a steel plate so the wheels are off the ground. "
It will be interesting to see what they uncover, that's for sure. A '57 in mint stock condition could be a nice find.

Two-tone color schemes were popular back then. Salmon-grey was one I recall.
