I meant that the drug may not have had time to move much and she died quickly after not giving it a chance to circulate. I have no idea if this is how it works, just a thought.

I'm not sure how far the drug would get in two minutes but there was some Pumping by the heart so she was still alive when the injection was given.

the drug in question was Demerol and it was injected at a dose 75mg (normal dose for an adult is 50mg to 100mg) - so the dose she got was middle of the road.

It is injected into a large muscle. Perper must have found an injection site (pin prick hole) and he would do a test on the tissues and muscle in that area. More than likely the Demerol stayed in the muscle where it was injected due to her dying shortly after it was given to her - A biopsy of that area will tell him the dose amount of the injection and he could probably see how far it had spread into the muscle. If she would have stayed alive I don't know what the period of time is for it to spread out into the full muscle and blood stream but it probably takes about 15+ minutes to fully spread out in someone who is alive during that full 15 minutes. - Imagine injecting a orange with some food dye with a syringe. The dye would slowly bleed out into the orange cavity if you let it sit still but if you moved the orange around after you injected it would spread out faster through the cavity of the orange. So Perper probably knows through CSI type work how fast Demerol would spread out in someone who was alive and did not die before the Demerol wore off. But is someone dies within 2 minutes the Demerol may only spread out 6" into the muscle (for example - for every 1 minute let's say it spreads out 3 inches more into the muscle - 2 minutes 6" - 3 minutes 9" - 4 minutes 12" - etc)
