DNA expert in Anna Nicole case

FAIRFIELD - A local DNA expert has landed in the middle of the Anna Nicole Smith case.
Dr. Michael Baird of Fairfield, a renowned DNA expert at DNA Diagnostics Center in Fairfield, is on his way to Nassau, Bahamas, to take a DNA sample from the six-month-old daughter of the late pinup model and actress, according to Court TV's website.
The center in Fairfield is one of the largest private DNA testing laboratories in the world, its website states.
On Tuesday, a Bahamian judge ordered a DNA test on Smith's daughter, Dannielynn, to identify the girl's father. It was the latest chapter in a bitter custody feud sparked by Smith's death last month.
A court order prevents DNA Diagnostics Center and Dr. Baird from commenting on the case, said Jim Hanigan, DDC's communications director.
