I think Virgie made a sort of "pro-bono" deal with O'Quinn, since she can't afford him otherwise.

If Virgie gains custody of Dannilynn, then O'Quinn will set himself up for life as Trustee of the babies estate.

Can you imagine the "fee$" that would generate?
