In all the celebrating of the Selma March for Black Voting Rights yesterday, NOBODY even mentioned that it was Democrats who fought to withhold those rights from blacks...and that it was Republicans who were responsible for passing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

BUMP for historical accuracy. Think I will take a moment to send out the link about the false twang and Selma, along with your observations to my email list.

Good morning folks, I'm mostly posting and running this AM. Going to a presentation at a local church that sounds interesting "Red vs. Blue: The Real Cultural Divide". The guest speaker is doing several interesting sounding talks, one on Islam which I really want to go to as well.

I was fretting about what to take for the pot luck luncheon that's happening ahead of the presentation until I realized I had a freshly made jello salad, untouched, in the refrig.

HI! I'm back from lunch. We had a very nice time, and as it turns out, apparently my friend (& choir director) really needed to "vent" to someone, so I'm glad I changed my mind. Plus, it's her birthday.:)

So I treated her to lunch & listened to her problems and shared some of my own and I think the universe has been saved for one more day.;-)

I've been going through paper clutter..old bills, mail, etc. I'm seeing a little organization, but I could go much, much further and I will. Why do I collect this junk? I know, I need a paper shredder.
