As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!
Good morning!!
We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!
I have taken up reading Winston Churchill's most excellent work on the Second World War; I suspsect the effort of reading its breadth will consume much time over the course of many weeks and months to come. That's not the point--I am struck by a strange and dangerous parallel by what happened in the 1930s and what is transgressing today.
Churchill writes in the first volume, "The Gathering Storm", about the unease of the French with the German rearmament during the 1930s, yet its country's unwillingness to confront the danger. The excuse given by the French? The English don't want them to do anything. Such a statement was, in fact, quite true as debate after debate, vote after vote, in the English Parliament sought not the confrontation of that gathering storm, but rather to ignore the growing wind in the hopes that it would, quite simply, disappear. History, of course, records the tens of millions of lives that were expended in the storm; it didn't go away.
Today, there is a malevolence growing in the Middle-East, in the form of a radicalized Iran. Iran is already well known as the birthplace of modern terrorism, and is responsible for the holding of 53 Americans for 444 days as hostages--as a matter of State policy.
Indeed, Iran has stated on many recent occassions that Israel has no right to exist, and will, soon, be wiped off the map. Weapons of Iranian manufacture have been found within the boundaries of Iraq, in the hands of America's opponents. Iran has also called for the destruction of the United States.
The response of the American Congress? Placidity, to the effect of working to tie the President's hand. No metter what Iran does, they say, war will not be tollerated. Never mind, Iran, you can build your nuclear weaponry, your ICBMs, your army and navy needed to wipe the Jewish State, and us, off the map. The retort of Congressional supporters of such appeasement efforts? The full efforts of the United Nations, if only we would work in concert with that body, will ensure the safety of the region. Much like the French of the 1930s believed they should not handle the growing danger because the British would not appreciate it.
Indeed, the Congress is so infatuated with the idea, they went so far as to commit the treasonous act of actually undercutting the ability of the President to wage war against the Nation's enemies, while staging the hypocrasy of actually stating support for the instrumentality of that defense--but never let it be used, it might actually offend the international community.
The threat, however, continues to breed, just as it did seventy years ago. The threat sees the confusion and chaos in the entities which could actually get in the way of their designs. They see even the hypocracy of the American Jewish element, which on the one hand cries "Never again!" with respect to the Holocaust, but freely supports the Democratic Party which is bent on a course of succouring the enemies of the Jewish people.
The threat sees the European Union rent and confused, aligned in every which way on the problem except with one of focus and intent. The threat sees the United Nations as incapable and as impotent as its predecessor, the League of Nations, when confronted with a danger giving birth that could threaten the entire globe.
The entire globe? Yes. Let us not forget where Iran--"the threat"--is located. This will come as a shock to those who cannot even locate the United States on a globe, but Iran hovers over the single location of the globe where the United States gets around one-third of its oil. This is not to mention the oil that is provided as the life blood for Europe and for the far east--Japan. All America's allies--at least in peace; with the threat as it is, it is hard to say whom we can count on when the bubble goes up.
And most certainly the bubble will go up. No, Iraq is not the war, the war has yet to start. If that sounds frightening, it should. It should bear the same terror as the weapons the Iran seeks to obtain while the West sleeps until the dawn of the horror. Tens of milllions died in World War II. Millions of Britons, and millions of Frenchman, died; died even after spending years hoping the problem will simply go away if it were to be ignored.
Will it be millions of Americans that will die because we choose to sleep now?
Awake. It is not yet too late. But it may soon be.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
good thoughts chair. I forwarded it to some of my friends.
also some good/sobering thoughts dog
Thank you for your service to us all. When we pass the torch, it is good to see it in hands such as yours!
God Speed, Brother!
morning JT..all.
If anyone's son or daughter expresses desire to major in journalism at college.. you immediately lock them in basement for a given length of time & bring in the deprogramming team.
If they don't change, keep them in the basement until you are found out & arrested.
break over.. need to tackle a few unpleasant tasks this AM.. and a few "nice" ones.
I have to get moving ...taking my Dad to a doctors visit.
I have been in lurking mose lately. Not trying to be mysterious, but I will explain why later. Miss conversing with everyone and Happy Birthday to all whose special day I missed.
Thanks Chair. You are right. I've been afraid we are repeating history. We're repeating because the democrats dislike our President so much and their horrendous lust for power at any cost. Also the msm and it's readers who have no knowledge of history and repeat only what is put in front of them. Our education system has, for many years, changed the cirriculum of grade and high schools to the point of teaching little. Our young cannot subract, add, multiply, find a spot on the map, let alone one of our states, and history is all about robert redford's statement that law breakers are smarter than law inforcement plus other essentials such as the latest hollywood news. As I've said before, I worry about this country's future.
When your days of representing your people in 2008 are over, then you will have time to read. Right now you have your hands full with the other side of the aisle. I don't envy you. I watched a couple of democrats trying to have a discussion with a couple of Republicans and they sounded like a records with a needle stuck in it. They both talked the party line, constantly. It was no discussion, it was a verbal barrage.
'Morning JT. Hello to the troops from central Texas. It's a cool 41 degrees here. What's it like there?
I had the same feeling when I read a few Churchill biographies about 2 years ago.
Great essay this morning and thank you, Chair.
You have that right JT. This is a world-wide thing. In fact when you were a little boy the muzzies were doing damage and mayhem in Indonesia, but no one paid much attention, then.
The media was in Clintoons corner of course and assited him at every juncture, but you are correct about the Bush WH being too silent.
The media would twist their message and make them seem forever on the defensive but most Americans would've been able to sort it out.
Good morning all. I've been busy and haven't had the opportunity to check in.
Last night my neck went out and I awoke with such a headache I had to cancel out on some plans for this morning. Think I will have to finally break down and see a chiropractor.
Spring looks like it's trying to arrive in S. TX although it's still a bit on the cool side. (A thin complaint compared to what folks in the north have been going through, I know. Dolly, I saw your pix, YIKES!)
There were scads of bright yellow-breasted birds feeding on the golf course this morning. Maybe meadowlarks, hubby is going to bring my bird book to me shortly and I'll try to look them up. There were literally dozens of them.
I'm getting a kick watching the birds at our feeders. We put whole peanuts out there. Of course, the Blue Jays have no problem carrying a peanut to a tree, but it's so funny watching a little one like this do the same.
I hope your neck improves soon.
Good morning, Toby.
Good morning, I saw that picture of the snow you have had. Tracy (D) didn't see snow until she was 13 when she went to Germany as an exchanve student.
I am seeing the chiropractor today also. I am going once a week now & I feel so much better. My back wiht degenerate disks, vertebra w/spurs & compression fractures will never be the same but overall better.
Iowa Granny put me on to ART & my chiro does that also.. for my elbows & he does some adjustments on the carpal tunnel & I have much relief.
I am a bit supporter of chiropractic care. They aren't for everything but what they do (If you have a good one) they are great.
I consider mine as my primary physician
Ah spring.. I recall living in the south.. it arrived in late Feb.. but here. we still can have snow in April.
We have birds flitting outside the picture window in front of my computer - for a couple days now. The indoor cats are of course going wild.
Start dipping your bullets in pigs fat and put out the word that is what you will be shooting with, make em run.
