Hi! Still looking for that global warming? Anyone seen it? Can't remember it being this cold this late in February in the 20 years I've been in Washington. Oh, wait, it hasn't!

Here is a very interesting and important article:
How Not to Talk to Your Kids (The Inverse Power of Praise)
I highly recommend clicking through and reading the full article. It concerns a study of why kids who seem smart do not achieve their full potential, how self-esteem has not worked as intended, and how to praise children without giving them empty, "feel-good" compliments. It is very important, and I am going to try to implement it with my grandkids. Anyone who deals with children should read it.

Of special interest this morning is the story about the black legislator from South Carolina whose firm just happened to get a $200,000 contract from hitlery.....just days before he made the announcement that he was not supporing Barak Obama.
He also made the disparaging comment that if a black man were on the top of the ticket the entire democrat slate of candidates including governors would go down in defeat.

Morning folks. Took me ten minutes to open my car door this morning.
Those of you who are home, watch the debate in the House today on the funding of troops. Congressman Sam Johnson's speech is going to be a keeper.

Today was the first I heard of the payoff, but the ugly comments about a black on the ticket harming all democrats was covered during the day yesterday.

I didn't pay that much attention to the news yesterday, other than the President's press conference. I need to catch up on this story!

Good morning!
I understand that Bubbah has been working the phones soliciting funds...and who knows what else...for Hillary. Looks like these 2 are determined one way or another to return to public housing/the WH.
After reading that article you linked, MM, I now know why I did well in college. (I don't remember my dad ever praising me for making good grades. He expected me to do so. Period.)
As a naive girl from a small town and public school, I was mightily impressed w/the questions, comments, and class participation of students from other states in my freshmen college courses. I remember thinking that I needed to bear down if I was going to make it, so I studied to 'catch up'.
Imagine my surprise to learn much later that I was making better grades than these students were. In freshman English class, I labored over and over to get beyond a B grade on my compositions.
One day while writing still another essay in class, the professor went round the room returning our last compositions. He reached over my left shoulder and placed my last composition squarely on top of the one I was writing, and when I saw that it had an A- on it, I glanced up at him....must have looked startled...because he smiled!
I valued that smile even more than the grade!
