Anna Nicole Smith has died according to ABC News

Posted on 02/08/2007 12:39:03 PM PST by kcvl

Anna Nicole Smith collapsed in her hotel room at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and was rushed to a hospital on Thursday. A Hollywood, Fla., fire department spokesman told MSNBC TV that the actress was unresponsive when the rescue unit arrived on the scene.

Sources confirmed to Access Hollywood that Smith was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. EST on Thursday. Access Hollywood also is reporting that Smith was intubated at the scene.

Officials told the Miami Herald, "it does not look good."

I think people like Rita Cosby are clueless to a lot of these details. Greta is the only one even close to telling it like it is.

It was quite an experience -- totally offtopic here, but I was a fan, not a groupie. I was married at the time and my girlfriend and I went to Vegas for a week and the guy at the pool happened to ask if we'd met him yet... we didn't know what he meant, but he explained if we were at the penthouse bar after his last show odds were good of getting in to meet him.

The rest is history.. he was gorgeous, had on a blue jump suit and had the bluest, of blue eyes one can imagine, polite and charming.

I still remember every aspect of that evening, and what we talked about and it was in 1970. I've forgotten a lot of conversations in my life, but not that one. We called our friends from work when we got back to our room and they thought we were joking at first.

Interesting idea, but Daniel did not have a Will. Nor could he, because he was a minor. And if Anna Nicole wanted Daniel to care for younger siblings with the assets that ANS left, it would have to be set up in a trust arrangement -- this cannot be accomplished by Will. What would have been left to Daniel would have been his sole property alone, with no obligation to share it with an after-born sibling.

More likely, Anna Nicole left her estate only to Daniel, and disinherited her mother, siblings, all her future children and future spouse, in hope that it it would avoid the mess of a Will contest like the one she went through with the Marshall estate. All kinds of previously unknown relatives come knocking on the courthouse door when there is the possiblity of a fortune to be had. She would have been advised that if, in the future, she were to bear or adopt future children, she could amend her Will or revoke it by signing a new one.

I wonder if Anna's will truly left out any other children in hers because Daniel's Will is the one that included any other blood siblings in it.

Very VERY good theory! Kudos sn. Maybe Daniel had his own lawyers. But HKS would've known about that. He was probably keeping a close eye on what Daniel was doing, legally speaking.

For instance, had Judge Seidlin known that Anna had actually wanted Daniel buried in California, then he might've ruled differently.

I wonder why this isn't something one of the attorneys brought out in court? I guess because Virgie wanted Texas. I think she may have had a stronger case if she had compromised and aligned herself with the GAL Milstein and worked together to bring Daniel and ANS home to California. At least her daugher and grandson would then be on US soil.

Yes, it's off topic. Anyway, sometimes some of us drift off on these tangents when someone says something interesting but off topic, such as OBTW, i've met Elvis in person and he was gorgeous!

Exactamundo. If Virgie had agreed to a CA burial i think the judge woulda ruled in her favor. Obviously, as a parent he bonded with her on some level. And he knew right off the bat that HKS was only in this for the money. That he didn't really care about Anna. Anna's money, yes. He used and abused Anna and took advantage of her and the judge made numerous not so thinly veiled hints to that affect.

Oh - I hadn't heard Wecht make that comment to the media re: the reason the methadone was in Daniel's system: "That's your job."

And I agree - Wecht is a spokesperson for HKS. He is/was under his employment. He owes Stern. So I do not value his opinions, comments, etc.

Don't like Dr Perper either - his calls in the middle of the courtroom saga especially were NOT necessary and his constant appearances in the media put me off.

Yes, Dr. Baden so far has been the most unbiased reporter of what could an could not be in ANS system and how the toxicologists could get the evidence they need of what killed her.

Meanwhile Wecht kept hinting that everyond would be surprised - that Anna likely died of natural causes.

Ok which brings us back to - Why was the methadone in Daniel's system?????

I don't think that subject was discussed in the court proceedings about ANS body - much to the delight of HKS I am sure.

Weight Gain/Weight Loss

Although not reported as a side-effect of this particular SSRI, weight gain has been reported on many occasions as a side-effect of Lexapro. Weight loss is also a possibility due to digestion disorders caused by the drug. This is a very dangerous way to lose weight, however, and we emphatically don't recommend it.

You are probably correct.
She signed the Will in 2001 and at the time Daniel would have been a under 18 years of age.

I had no idea that a minor child could not have a Will.

Daniel was nearly 21 yrs old when he died and I have no idea if he had a Will wrote once he reached 18 years of age.

If Calif has jurisdiction, do they not have the authority to demand that HKS return to the states to address the paternity charges?

I am not sure about this, but I think ANS was ordered to provide the baby's DNA sample, not HKS. Then she died. HKS was never yet served in the CA case, is that right? So the CA court doesn't have jurisdiction over him in the paternity case is HKS's argument.

I know there were attempts to serve him in Florida, but I don't know the results of that. I think the FLA judge ruled that they could not serve him or something crazy like that.

In most states, a minor becomes an adult at the age of 18. Once he or she reaches that legal age, certain rights and privileges are granted. That holds true for most states when it comes to making a Will. Forty-seven states currently require the Will maker to be at least 18 years of age. South Dakota is the only state that requires the Will maker to be older than 18. Louisiana sets the minimum age at 16, while in Georgia, you can make a Will as early as 14 years of age.

A number of states make provisions for those younger than 18 years of age to write a Will if they are married, economically independent, or a member of the armed forces.

Howard K. Stern Is Ready to "Grieve"

After spending another weekend in the morgue, Anna Nicole Smith's body is expected to head back to the Bahamas this week. Of course, if her mother, Virgie Arthur, has her way, the former Playboy playmate may not budge as soon as expected. Virgie is hoping she'll be granted an emergency court order to bury her daughter in Texas.

Howard K. Stern's lawyer tells the New York Daily News, "Howard is sad and tired [and] wants to go grieve." Stern is already back in the Bahamas, and awaiting a paternity hearing over Dannielynn in a Bahamian court tomorrow. Unlike the circus-like atmosphere that ensued in a Florida court this past week, the Bahamas proceedings will be conducted in private, and there's a gag order to prevent tidbits from leaking to the press.

I responded in mail to another FReeper with these thoughts below. I've got to be out for awhile, but maybe someone could comment if this would have been valid or not. Thanks! I'll check this thread when I get back.

"But it still seems to me if the judge awards the body to the baby, and the baby being unable to decide on the burial, obviously, then under any law the baby's father would be the one to make that decision--and not some court-appointed guardian.

If the baby's father were dead, then I can understand the appointment of a guardian. But in this case, the baby's father can be determined in a matter of minutes, and the court should have had the authority to carry out a DNA test in order to award the body to the baby/father.

This has nothing to do with the paternity case....but only with the awarding of the body to the baby, and therefore, also to the true father of the baby. This should be implied as long as the father is living, IMO."

Yes, Anna was ordered to provide Danielynn's DNA and wasn't it like a week before she died that she finally agreed to do it?

HKS was served with the paternity suit in FLA while he was eating lunch in a restaurant during lunch break at the hearing by Deb Opri.

"Howard is sad and tired" - and disappointed over Arthur's appeal, said Stern lawyer Krista Barth. "He wants to go and grieve, and I think Mr. Birkhead and Mr. Stern are ready to do this."

Stern arrived at the mansion he shared with Smith in the Bahamas late yesterday.

Arthur returned to Texas after a quick jaunt Friday to meet her Bahamas lawyer. "She is down and out, pretty dreary. The case really stressed her out," said one source.

All sides are now getting ready to battle over Dannielynn tomorrow in the Bahamas courts while a Florida judge decides whether he has jurisdiction in the case.

Under Bahamian law, the paternal rights of a man who lives with the child's mother before the baby was born - as Stern did with Smith - could trump those of the biological father, legal analysts say.

The one certainty about tomorrow's proceedings: Don't expect the zoo-like antics that dominated Seidlin's proceedings last week before his nondecision decision to award Smith's body to the baby's court-appointed guardian, lawyer Richard Milstein.

The proceedings in Nassau are conducted in private, and a judge has issued a gag order to limit the information released publicly by attorneys.

Meanwhile, Seidlin has received his first job offer. CBS' "Saturday Early Show" has proposed he host a "People's Court"-like segment called "Morning Justice."

I agree, I think Daniel and ANS both would have wanted to be buried in California, it was her home.

After reading the NYPost article today that some person who is an expert on faces, eye, ears, etc., said this is Larry's baby and one telling proof is the ears, I looked at my copies of People with ANS, Daniel, HKS, Larry and the baby, and I see what he was saying. ANS and HKS both have connected earlobs, as did Daniel, the baby has the same ear lobes as Larry B.
