Posted on 02/08/2007 12:39:03 PM PST by kcvl

Anna Nicole Smith collapsed in her hotel room at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and was rushed to a hospital on Thursday. A Hollywood, Fla., fire department spokesman told MSNBC TV that the actress was unresponsive when the rescue unit arrived on the scene.

Sources confirmed to Access Hollywood that Smith was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. EST on Thursday. Access Hollywood also is reporting that Smith was intubated at the scene.

Officials told the Miami Herald, "it does not look good."

And also how very strange for the judge to say why the rush...??? That's almost cruel.

Here's a baby who needs to know as soon as possible who her real father is so she can be with her real family...and the judge says what's the rush.

Couldn't get any crazier.

I'm pretty sure he said there was a corporation and that's how he can sign for stuff etc. The contract with ET is just another matter.

The fact remains: He's been laundering money: The boat, the 10 carat rock, the Rolex. If he bought the stuff with the corporation money, and he owns X stock certificates....That's his...not estate money.

I can't believe that Opri's attorneys didn't argue that better. They were given an opening by the judge, more than once. At one point, in answer to "what's the rush" from the judge, Opri actually answered "because I want to go home."

There was one unidentified male attorney Birkhead attorney who was sitting at the end of the table. He was trying to make the argument about why time was of the essence for Dannielynn, but the women stepped all over him.

I was even wondering about how Daniel got to be buried there. He's a US citizen and it didn't make a lot of sense to me.

I'm sure her plans weren't to stay in the Bahamas forever.....just until all the Marshall stuff was completed. She made her money in the USA and that's where it would always be made.

Most judges are cruel, arrogant and way to slow.

Will the FL GAL attorney have any say in the Bahama paternity proceedings that resume on Monday? Also, were those Thurday closed-door hearings postponed pending FL hearings today?

I questioned the same thing at the time.

That appeal by the man was the "best interest of the child".

The judge mocked him and said "we all learned that in law school".

LB is trying to use US judges because he knows he will loose in the Bahamas.

I think the judge was talking about no rush for ANS DNA to be turned over to LBs' testing person.

As for the paternity testing, how long has this been in the courts? Stern has ignored every ruling, so far, why would he comply now? Opri and those other 2 should have made clear that Dannilynn needs to be in a stable environment. Monday, Stern may be homeless in the Bahamas. All they really said about her is that she needs to come home. The judge said, we don't know where home is. EXACTLY!!

I was surprised too they didn't argue it better--as you said there was an opening.

This baby is entitled to be with her real father and family, whoever that may be. The U.S. court system needs to be doing everything possible to accomplish this as soon as possible...if "the baby's interest" is the main concern as the judge kept saying in the previous case. The DNA test would settle it all and quickly.

I've actually cut the TV off, got so frustrated with it.

I don't think the GAL has any say except for the burial of Anna.

I missed the closed-door thingy.

At that point could/should Opri have argued that as a US citizen Dannielynn's home in the US?

Justice Isaacs met Thursday with lawyers concerning a temporary injunction granted to Ms. Smith’s estranged mother, Virgie Arthur, which prevents Dannielynn from leaving The Bahamas.

The proceedings were closed to the public. At the end of those proceedings, lawyers for Ms. Smith’s estate, Mrs. Arthur, Ms. Smith’s ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead and her lawyer-turned-lover Howard Stern exited the Supreme Court in Bank Lane.

Wayne Munroe, who represents Ms. Smith’s estate and also represents Mr. Stern in the custody matter, summed up all that the lawyers were permitted, by mutual agreement, to say.

"I cannot tell you what was discussed apart from the fact that there were procedural discussions, the judge adjourned the matter to Monday and the injunction continues to Monday," he said.

"That is all that we can say."

He said he hadn’t heard from Mr. Stern, and did not know whether he would be present in Monday’s proceedings.

There are lawyers representing all the parties that are likely to have a stake in the paternity hearing that will likely result from Mr. Birkhead’s challenge to the Bahamian birth certificate listing Mr. Stern as the child’s father.

Desmar Whitfield-Henfield and Jamal Davis, both of Halsbury Chambers, represent Mrs. Arthur; Anthony McKinney represents Mr. Stern; Godfrey ‘Pro’ Pinder represents South Carolina developer G. Ben Thompson, who is watching the paternity proceedings with interest considering the legal wrangling over the Horizons mansion, and Emerick Knowles of Alexiou, Knowles and Co. represents Mr. Birkhead.

Some of the testimony from the hearing in Florida to determine who should get custody of Ms. Smith’s remains may shed some light on a number of matters playing out on the Bahamian stage.

Mr. Thompson’s son-in-law Ford Shelley, who has admitted to removing items from the house where Ms. Smith lived, "for safekeeping", testified that some of the items he moved were in the possession of the Broward County Sheriff’s office.

Parts of his testimony had to do with a supposed cancelled deed to the residence issued to him by the liquidator who sold Mr. Thompson the Eastern Road home last August.

The Bahamian police are investigating a reported break-in at the Horizons mansion.

I had wondered that also. She is a US citizen, and her parents are US citizens. So, the US claim is just as equal.

This judge was saying DL was born in the Bahamas and has lived there her entire life. He did ask if she's ever been to the USA. Seems he didn't realize that she's 5 months old!! Her parents are American citizens. This is maddening!!

I think Larry's lawyers need an audio earpiece connected to FReepers...so we can help them argue the case. Seriously!

I don't know how people like HKS, Rale, and Barth sleep at night KNOWING that they're keeping a child from a biological father.

Most likely on four poster king sized beds with down quilts and a persian rug to step on when they get up.
