Thay are all afraid to say it, but they are all thinking the same thing!
I, on the other hand, am not afraid to say it --
Because his back-up is rigged to cheat too!!!
Duhhh....
They need to call the CSI guys.
If what Mikey says is true, and I lean towards believing the man (not the type, IMO), some heads, or head, needs to roll.
Still can't believe the things that these folks try.....
The fact that he said more than once it was oil makes me think he was pulling a fast one. JMO But that stuff had a distinct odor and not of oil. Those guys have to know by now what oil smells like. The inspector knew right away it wasn't oil just by the smell and feel of it.
We all know his team did not have the speed to get into the race, sooooooooo they took a chance??
I really don't understand the Evernham, Rousch things. That really puzzles me.
Well duh!
Maybe, just maybe...Nascar has told him, "...and you can't use your back up rig, either."
Don't know, just saying.
I'd have to go back and look but I think Ruttabega's cars were faster anyway!
The team was caught cheating. If I was Nascar I would assume the back up car was the same. I if was who ever it was that decided to cheat, I'd do both cars. Otherwise, what's the point?
What, you want the penalty x2 - ??
Did Nascar go look at EHM back up cars?
I'm just saying.......
Whoever is off tomorrow [ME] will have a wild race to watch.....they really are desperate now.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Kenny Wallace really wants to be in Sunday's Daytona 500.
"If I get to the last lap of my 150-mile qualifying race on Thursday with a chance to make the 500, I'll finish the race on my roof if that's what I have to do to get in," Wallace said.
Wallace, in the first of two races, will be one of 22 drivers vying for four starting positions -- two from each event -- Thursday.
Also desperate to get in are Brian Vickers, who changed teams and lost his 15th-place points from last season, 2002 Daytona winner Ward Burton and former series champion Bill Elliott, a two-time Daytona winner.
Kyle Petty, a veteran of 25 Daytona 500s and not among the "go or go home" guys in Thursday's races, said even drivers who have qualified for the big event are susceptible to going wild.
"You'd think you'd focus on the 500," Petty said. "But race car drivers are idiots when they get out there."
Under the unique Daytona qualifying format, 35 of the 43 starters automatically make it into the race based on last year's car owner points.
Sunday's time trials locked in the front row -- pole-sitter David Gilliland and Robert Yates Racing teammate Ricky Rudd.
Two-time Daytona winner Sterling Marlin, Boris Said and Johnny Sauter were the three fastest qualifiers Sunday among those not guaranteed a starting spot, meaning they, too, are in.
For them -- plus the rest of the top 35 and Dale Jarrett, guaranteed a spot as the past champion -- only starting positions are in question.
But all drivers will battle one hurdle Thursday, when gusts up to 30 mph are expected. During practice Wednesday, winds gusted to 25 mph, baffling just about everyone, said Derrike Cope, the 1990 Daytona winner who must race his way in.
Cope, who hasn't made the race since 2004, said he's trying not to let the conditions worry him.
"What I anticipate is a race just like it was last year," he said. "You know what's gonna happen. ... It's going to be one of those wild and wooly ends."
Rookie Paul Menard, who drives for Dale Earnhardt Inc., which already has Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. in the race, said he has a good enough car. It's just going to take some luck to stay out of trouble.
"You've got 150 miles, which is actually a fair amount of time. We can do a pit stop and adjust on it and hopefully make it the best at the end," Menard said. "But it's going to be wild for sure. There's a lot of guys, including us, who have got a lot on the line. And they're going to try to risk it all the last few laps."
Among the non-qualified drivers joining Wallace in the first race are Burton, Elliott, Jeremy Mayfield, Mike Bliss, Stanton Barrett, rookies A.J. Allmendinger and Brandon Whitt and 72-year-old James Hylton, the longest of long shots to make the race.
Hylton is trying to race at Daytona for the first time since 1983 and hoping to make his first Cup race since 1993.
Two-time race winner Michael Waltrip also will have to race in with a backup after NASCAR disqualified the car in which he posted his Sunday speed. NASCAR officials said Wednesday they found an illegal substance in the engine of Waltrip's No. 55 Toyota during two Sunday inspections.
In race No. 2, the non-qualified roster includes Cope, Menard, Mike Skinner, Kevin Lepage, Vickers, Joe Nemechek, Frank Kimmel, Eric McClure, Kirk Shelmerdine, Mike Wallace -- Kenny's brother -- and rookies David Reutimann and Regan Smith.
Lucky dawg!
Wow. Getting to the nitty gritty now.
And the quote of the day.....
"But race car drivers are idiots when they get out there."
Kyle may have to work on his "sensitivity" skills before he takes that broadcast booth job! Lol
I know. Did he say that after the second intake that Nascar didn't like? I don't remember. He said that several times, but I thought most of that was from the FIRST confiscated intake. After the SECOND one....?
I get all giddy when the "hind sight" thing kicks in but when Nascar took the SECOND intake manifold, it was, "hello boys - it's not the intake manifold."
Personally, I have never really "liked or disliked" Mikey, he was always Dale Jr's team mate....and they made some great commercials. He was a "value added" character in the cast of Nascar.
What he did, the Toyota thing, took balls (no offense, ok?) - big brass ones. I'm sure he is making some money off of this but the risk was huge, his name all over everything, he was / is the face on the Nascar Toyota attempt. He bet everything, "all in."
He has been around long enough to understand the consequences of an infraction like this. It does not make sense to me, that he would risk all of that and do something stupid like this. Maybe he did, I dunno, hopefully we will get "the rest of the story" at some point.
OTOH, Chad got caught last year and yet we had 3 other teams try the same thing (generic, messing with aero) this year......Ummmm, hello?
Go figure.
Sure was good to hear (at PC) the "Southern Burton's" voice on the TV....lol
JMHO.
Not even.
To say something like that makes it readily apparent that you do not know much about Dale Jr, or his history in the sport.
Your statement, I think Dale, Jr. has a total lack of respect for what his dad did to get where he was. has no merit what so ever.
Please, do tell me what Dale Jr's record was in the Busch series. No respect? The guy wants to drive! And he can drive.
If anything, people expect him to be his Dad. Obviously, he is not. Maybe you haven't noticed that yet.
Dale Jr has a huge amount of respect from the other drivers and, fortunately, that is what counts - his peers. That is something your "Daddy" can't give you, you have to earn it. And it's quite a tough crowd.
As for the celebrity stuff, what, are you on Theresa's mailing list? Sponsor (about the biggest one in the business) responsibilities? Even Horryweird dimwits want to meet Dale Jr.
Dale Jr is not the one that needs a reversal of the cranium rectal insertion process.
For the record, my favorite driver is behind the wheel of the #44 car.
I just happen to like the driver of the #8 car. I appreciate what he does for the sport.
JMHO, of course.
FWIW, A friend of mine from Alabama said two years ago that Jr should spend less time with commercials and pay more attention to his racing. This from a devout Jr fan and she's known him since he was a baby.
Junior and Truex are in a different duel than Menard.
Paul is going to have to race in without team help.
ST your friend should know he HAS to do those commercials. He's said time and again in interviews he would rather not but his obligation to his car manufacturer, his sponsors and DEI require him to do that.
He has more money than he will ever need, there is no reason for him to ever WANT to do commercials for that reason. Oh and Nascar had him do a commercial or 2 for Daytona, the Chevy commercial for the Superbowl was for Chevy of course and Budweiser.........well they require him to do a LOT of commercials and the One Night Stands PLUS tour the facility periodically. The Domino's commercials several years ago were done for DEI. I'm sure that contract he has three pages of changes he wants requires him to do ALL those other sponsor gigs as well.
I'm sure I missed something BUT his life is not his own. He knows that and he doesn't complain, only some non-fans do at times. And, speaking of fans he does a LOT of things for the fans that he doesn't have to. Also. there's all the charity functions, I'm sure no one would want him to stop going to those???
Nothing personal ST I'm sure you know I will fight tooth and nail for Jr.
Kenseth said his main concern was his teams punishment was significantly more severe than the one levied against Jimmie Johnsons team before last years season-opener.
That was 10 times graver an infraction than this was, said Kenseth, the 2003 Cup series champion and last years runner-up. There were parts purposely built to move body panels around, all kinds of stuff, and we had a couple covers, or one cover, come off that was covering a hole up. Its night and day difference. ... Its kind of like the difference between jaywalking and attempted murder.

Well hopefully Pops can work his magic on that 15 car. If he just stays out of trouble he may make it. The two races today will be bedlam because so many need to make the 500 by racing in.
Only relaying a thought, which I did have to remind her of when all this contract garbage came up again. I don't really have a dog in this hunt. I like Jr., as I like all the drivers, he's just not one of my favorites. My problem has always been with his fans, present company excluded of course, far too many just ain't got no tact. It seems impossible for them to enjoy a race unless Jr in dominating, I.E. not race fans, only Jr fans.
You know my only input into the contract thing has been that I think there are too many people trying to mind someone else's business.
Far too much babble about, including here, maybe it will cease when they give the command. ;)
