Half the FUn (maybe more) of watching the Superbowl is seeing the commercials. Remember, the ad agencies try to put their most creative commercials on during the Superbowl. Therefore, the purpose of this discussion thread will be to analyze today's Superbowl commercials: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
There seems to be a concensus that the best Superbowl commercials were the 1984 Apple commercial introducing the Mac and the original Budweiser frogs commercial.
In the hours leading into tonight's Superbowl, feel free to post your fave (and most hated) Superbowl commercials. Once the game begins, let us have an analysis of this year's Superbowl commercials.
When do they start?
If the Rolling Rock TV ad is any indication, there will be a lot of money wasted today. That banner ad for Emerald Nuts showing up here and there also does not instill a lot of confidence that we'll see excellence on parade.
I think the subtitles were on the original Mac commercial. Or am I wrong?
Superbowl commercials attempt to reach into the core of your being where you are contemplating the majesty of God's universe and replace that with beer, Chevys, and various medications for %$^% itch.
I don't remember, to be honest. I was 9 at the time! :O) Most of the versions on YouTube don't have subtitles, so I would imagine the original did not have subtitles. I think it helps to have subtitles, as I had a hard time hearing the narration, otherwise.
I found a page that gives some sneak previews of this years Superbowl Commercials. I really don't like that concept. It ruins the element of SURPRISE. Tonight some red crabs on a beach steal a cooler of Bud beer.
But I live in hope.
There is some sort of a commercial contest open to the general public.
They showed one of them on FNC a few says ago. I'm looking forward to those. The one I saw was pretty good and the guy made it using his camcorder and his computer.
It was a Doritos commercial about a rock climber.
Really? Years ago I have a strange natural special effects happen to me. It involved cans of soda. When it happened I thought it would make for a great soda commercial. Let me know more about that contest.
Already with the cavemen. LOL.
You might want to do a google on commercial contests. When I did, to look for the super bowl one, I found several others. One for the Tahoe SUV, another for KFC popcorn chicken.

I liked the FedEx caveman one.
ping for future.
Vlasic pickles should do a commercial this year based on the name confusion with almost unknown candidate, Tom Vilsack.
