In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
interpellate • \in-ter-PELL-ayt\ • verb
to question (as a foreign minister) formally concerning an official action or policy or personal conduct
Example sentence:
At the international tribunal, U.N. officials interpellated the premier about his country's acquisition of illegal weapons.

"Interpellate" is a word you might encounter in the international news section of a newspaper or magazine. It refers to a form of political challenging used in the congress or parliament of many nations throughout the world, in some cases provided for in the country's constitution. Formal interpellation isn't practiced in the U.S. Congress, but in places where it is practiced, it can be the first step in ousting an appointed official or bringing to task an elected one. The word was borrowed from the Latin term "interpellatus," past participle of "interpellare," which means "to interrupt or disturb a person speaking." The "interrupt" sense, once used in English, is now obsolete, and "interpellate" should not be confused with "interpolate," which means "to insert words into a text or conversation."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

If funds were given to Iraq for humanitarian aid at point A, and the bankrolls of key U.N. officials had swelled at point B, was there any need to interpolate to interpellate Kofi Annan about the flawed Food-for-Oil program?

Although to be fair, with his comment about Obama he had to be plagiarizing Jimmy the Greek, or maybe Roy Campanella, or possibly Rush Limbaugh, or who knows maybe even Michael Irvin.

it's interesting. i had been reading on the rudyfan threads about how liberal jewish friends of posters were big on rudy, so decided to ask MY liberal jewish friend if he would consider voting for Rudy. No, never. I asked if anyone he knows would. he said his sister might, and his parents conceivably would, but not if the opponent were hillary, who they see as centrist and hawkish in her own right. SO only if we have some total dove candidate for the dems would a republican candidate like rudy draw from the moderates/indpts., i think. He himself is a moonbat and would probably vote for hillary holding his nose, much as i would have to do for Rudy, in the general election. he said dyed in the wool liberals will fight tooth and nail against hillary in the primaries.
