...and let me add that chow chows were bred for 100's of yrs in china in large cages because their black tongues were a delicacy.

These dogs were anti social and allowed to breed w/ brothers, sisters, etc. Hence the VERY bad reputation of this breed as unstable and aggressive.

I own 2 pit bull mixes and they are the best dogs I could have. My 2 cats are their bosses :)

Children--all humans--are more important than dogs. Dogs belonging to large and/or aggressive breeds need to be secured by ropes, leashes or high secure fences.Protestations to the contrary from dog nuts, pit bulls are frequently involved in attacks on people and are very dangerous. This breed should be outlawed altogether.

I couldn't agree more.

All of the "ban all pits/rotts/dogs" types on the Freep have NEVER responded to me when I tell them that I nearly lost an eye to a Yorkshire Terrier when I was two years old.

The dog left a permanent, albeit small now, scar on my face.

Funny, I was mauled by such a tiny, yet vicious, dog, and yet NO ONE calls for an out and out ban on Yorkies.

I own a Rottweiler who would give her life for me, has one of the sweetest temperments ever (she's a therapy dog in training) and has never shown any aggression toward other animals, people and especially, my three year old daughter. In fact, my Ursa absolutely ADORES my daughter and protects her fiercely.

My friend, an ER nurse, says the majority of dog bites that she treats are from toys and terriers. And the ONLY dog to ever bite me was a Chow (weird, inbred things.)
