Who else but Marty could be looking at a real chance of being canned after a 14-2 season?
It is amazing.
It's surprising to think he could be canned after going 14-2. It just looks like his offensive scheme works fine in the regular season, but when he plays the best defenses that are playing really hard in the playoffs he can't score enough points. I think that is because he doesn't fully utilize the talent of his very best athletes (LT and Gates) in his playbook. That's how Walsh beat everybody in the playoffs. His offense pulled out all the stops and they threw deep to everybody who could run reasonably well when defenses we're expecting it. Walsh would throw deep to Waters and even 25 yards downfield to guys like Tom Rathman. Marty doesn't throw anything longer than 15 yard passes to LT or Michael Turner. I'm not an NFL coach, but I think that's dumb. Bring back Bill Walsh as Chargers head coach!
