It’s 5:00 Somewhere

Is it bad that I am devoting this entire post to alcohol? Hey, it’s 5:00 somewhere, right?

I found this drink recipe online, and I want it - like 5 minutes ago.

Passion Fruit Martini

1 shot citrus vodka 1 shot white cranberry juice 1 shot passion fruit juice 1/2 shot orange liqueur 1 tablespoon cherry juice Orange peel twist, for garnish

Combine all ingredients except orange peel twist in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into martini glass. Garnish with orange peel twist.

Am I wrong? Or is this a terrible thing to do to perfectly good vodka?

As long as the drinker enjoys it, no problem.

To me that drink sounds like a mess.

But to each their own.

(My choice, after 5 this evening, will be a Grey Goose vodka martini, up, dry, with olives.)

Might as well put an umbrella in it...it is a gay drink.

"Perfectly good" citrus vodka is an oxymoron.

Absolutely, but what is it about this drink that makes it a Martini?

Wow. I'm going to be making some of that tonight! Maybe a gallon will suffice.

My preference:
Medium-large glass (About 10-16 oz)
One shot Crown Royal
One shot grenadine
Fill the rest with Pepsi.

(I don't like drinks that make one's face turn into a Cabbage Patch doll)

its a variation on a cosmo, which itself, is a variation on a blue moon martini, which is a variation on a "normal" martini, made to be a more fruity, and have less of an "alcohol" taste and ne more appealling to women.
and its pink.

thanks, I'm getting sick of all these variations on a martini. I can make 100 of them, if i can make 1. one of the other bartenders i work with has a whole book of recipes for them.
of course, half of them you can't get in a "regular" bar.
really, who carries passion fruit juice?

That sounds like one of them sissy, upiddy, metro martinis.

it is. its a martini that's been sissified by lowering the amount of alcohol in the drink, and by giving it a "pretty" colour.
it's not bad if you like fruity drinks, and don't mind walking around with a pinkish drink.
